We’re gonna wait for SG to come back after the 19th, so there is more time for anyone to sign up for this. I still need confirmations from Cole and Cletus as well. And having re-read the thread, it does look like I am partly taking JD’s advice with the showdown portion so to clarify that part…
Each hero team v hero team and villain team v villain team during the showdown will have two votes. Vote 1. Which teams wins in a fight? This might/could be landslides, but I do hope chemistry comes into play a little bit here as a well-oiled team may beat a stronger non-cohesive team, but I will leave that up to the voters. And Vote 2. Which team would you rather read about/watch a TV or movie series/play video games with? Basically for this, it’s more of a “that team is cool, I’d love to see how they interact on a daily basis both inside and out of conflicts.” At the end, there will be 4 group winners; Hero fight winner, Villain fight winner, Hero “series” winner, and Villain “series” winner. Then I’ll probably do a round robin type thing with the two hero teams facing off and the two villain teams facing off in a general poll for best hero team and best villain team. And also do the two fight winners against each other for toughest team and the two series winners against each other for coolest team.
If anyone has any questions, ideas, comments, or anything else to discuss…we have about 10-14 days before a draft order is posted and we get started

My only concern with dictating how we vote is that it limits options for team makeup. For example, if I wanted to do a team of thieves or explorers, I’m going to need to add a cosmic-power-level character that won’t fit the theme just so I can compete in the Who’d Win portion. And maybe by shoehorning characters in for that reason, we wind up with a bunch of ill-formed teams or teams that aren’t as good as they could be.
Just putting it out there as a concern in case that wasn’t considered.
Updated the rules a bit as well. We will still be doing 3 teams of heroes, 3 teams of villains but I’ve changed the team size from 5-8 to 4-10 and if you need to finish teams during add/drop, you can.
And just in case anyone had questions, here are a couple of clarifications:
1. Once a character is drafted from any medium, they are off the board completely whether you were going to use them as a hero or villain, i.e. drafter 1 can’t have character A as a hero and then drafter 2 wants that same character as a villain. That’s not allowed. 2. You are drafting the person behind the mask. So, for legacy characters or examples where multiple people have had the name, please specify which one you are taking. 3. An offshoot of 1 & 2, multiple companies have done the same character…if there is a clear/distinct difference, they can both be drafted but specify which version you want.
If anyone has questions on this, now is the time to discuss.

It was considered and I know the fight aspect is an issue, but I feel there have been votes in the past where it was already a factor so I hope by adding the 2nd aspect of the poll that the team of explorers/thieves/detectives might win now.
For me personally, I am going to only focus on one aspect and if I don’t win the other, so be it but I will also not just be judging the fight by which team is the “strongest.” I will be using chemistry and defined roles in my decision making process, so adding Cosmic God 1 to a team of street level thieves/detectives/heroes would probably have the opposite effect for me in that the chemistry won’t mesh and I don’t see how they’d work together to beat a team and depending on the specific characters, they might not be all that interesting to read/watch.
It’s definitely gonna be a balancing act, but I hope this might lead to some different characters being involved and discussed instead of the same usual 4-5 heroes that win with a few backups that don’t really effect the voting.
We’ve got confirmations from everyone so that gives us 9. SG had said he’d be out of town the next few days, so I’ll get the order up over the weekend but won’t start clocks until SG says he’s back, so figure Monday or Tuesday for actual start date. That gives anyone else a chance to sign up so if you know anyone who might want to participate, have em sign up. And if anyone has questions, now is still the time to ask.
I'm going to say anything based on a purely religious text is not fictional because I don't want to argue about it. But if the religious figure appears as a clearly fictional character somewhere else, it's okay.
I'm trying not to name drop anything specific, but I think every god has appeared in a purely fictional way so you just have to specify where the god being used is from.
