Since we now have a forum dedicated to comics, I thought I would start a sister thread to the "What are you reading now?" thread.

I took the advice of OpTard last night (what the hell was I thinking?) and bought some graphic novels. The local Books-a-Million, a bad Barnes & Noble knockoff, was having a buy 2 get the 3rd free sale on DC graphic novels. I picked up 6 books, all of them Batman:

Hush: Volume 1
Hush: Volume 2
Hush Returns
The Long Halloween
Under the Hood: Volume 2
Year One (hardback)

All 6 books together only cost me about $55, so it was a pretty good deal. They didn't have Volume 1 of Under the Hood, so I will probably wait to read Volume 2 until I get it. I guess they somehow brought Jason Todd back, though? They also had one called Face the Face that seemed interesting. Someone is killing off all the Batman villians? Was that a collected story arc, or was it in an alternate DC Universe?

By the way, my wife hates you all now, for getting me into this again. ;D

EDIT - Since I'm starting to read the comics again, I may be asking a lot of questions on this board. Obviously, I'm not a newb, but I might need some catching up on what's happened in the DC and Marvel Universe.

I only regularly buy Fables, Y, and Hard Time. It's been months since I've been over to the comic book store, though, I'm probably six issues behind.

I just finished reading Infinite Crisis. Since I don't think Lucky has read it, I'll just say it was pretty good.

I also read Ultimate Spider Man: Deadpool and Catwoman: When in Rome over the weekend.

Ultimate Spidey is kick-ass.

They had an Infinte Crisis trade paperback there, too. I take it it's worth picking up?

If you're a DC fan, yes. Word of warning, though. You can't just pick up IC. You'll need to pick up the 4 IC prequels (Rann-Thannagar War, Day of Vengeance, Villians United and OMAC) as well as the GN that has the four prequel specials (it could't hurt to pick up the IC prelude and Superman: Sacrifice as well). The confusing thing is that the specials take place during IC. So you'll need to read part of IC, jump to one of the specials, go back to IC for a bit, go back to another special, etc.. Still, it is very good. The ending was a bit anti-climatic, but the sheer scope of the whole IC saga was breathtaking and very very good.

seriously, pun, i was a big fan of IC, but don't even bother. it's too much effort.

Really? I'm surprised you think that. I know it's some effort, but not that much. Compared to something like Batman's Under the Hood Volumes it is a lot, but Infinite Crisis is to most Graphic Novels what Lord of the Rings or the Star Wars Series is to.... uhmm.... a real good one off Science Fiction movie (Sorry. It's past midnight and I'm blanking on an example).

Infinite Crisis is an epic saga. It's complicated, but I thought it was well worth the time.

I'm a Bat Nut, but I'd advise against War Games. It's three volumes (five if you get the prequel and epilogue) and really not worth it. If you can read it for free, go for it. If you have to pay for it, take a pass.

I can't recommend Preacher more strongly to you Pun.
