wizard's been pretty worthless for a while as far as news in concerned, with the existance of websites like newsarma, but i always liked the articles, or at least found them to be OK, so i kept reading.

but now i've had enough. the uncertainty when it comes to shipping a print publication just isn't worth the risk.

this weeks issue spoiled the end of fifty-two, because obviously this issue originally was planned to come out the week of or after the end of fifty-two, but as release dates switch around in publishing, this issue ended up coming out the week before.

i won't give the actual spoiler, but they had one of their little sidebar articles that started with "as we all know, ____________ with week 52 of fifty-two..."

i didn't continue reading to try to hold off on learning some of the finer details, but i'm just pissed that they wouldn't make more sure of this stuff before throwing an issue on the shelf. basically, while i found the articles to be nice bathroom reading, i'm deemin the publication not worth the risk. fuck wizard. bigger jerks than lucky!

I don't read Wizard because as Optard has noted in the past, I'm very odd as to when I'm up to date with comics and when I'm clueless. I'm clueless right now, for the record and have only read half way through Civil War and like a quarter into 52. But whenever I did read Wizard I always noticed it gave up a LOT of info. It was fun for times like this when I'm not reading. Gets me up to date, peaks my interest for things to come to get me back into reading. I specifically started reading comics again because of the Identity Crisis stuff I encountered when I randomly went into a Wizard store. Which is really my only use for them. There are only 2 comics stores I know of near me (aside from just going into the city and hitting Forbidden Planet or one of the my childhood stomps that are all still there) and Wizard is clearly the better one. The other is a cool, run down one with cheap older comics and graphic novels, but Wizard is the "we have the new books and check out these figures" store. Not to mention its where I did much of my baseball card dealing back in the day. So its my resource when I do get back into comics.

Although I'm not even sure if its still a Wizard. But its still there. And I was always confused. Is Wizard and Wizards connected? Because Magic totally rules!

I just never liked Wizard because I like hearing about what's coming out and what might be intriguing from other geeks at the comic store. Same reason I don't like magazines like PSM. I prefer going to the EB Games and chatting up the geeks. I get better feedback.

Yeah, see, when I'm heavy into comics then I'm talking to geeks at the store and visiting messageboards and website. But when I'm not? When I'm just very casually observing comics and not interested in visiting messageboards or spending an hour tooling around a store? I enjoy skimming through Wizard just to see what's up and if there's anything that catches my attention.

I can't begin to read about video games. Every 6 months or so I waste money on video games. I rely entirely on the commercials I see and the gaming friends I have to tell me what I should be wasting my money on. And skimming through the OO game board. Either that or I just grab a few random games from EB's used bin for $3 a piece.
