Not the reboot, three-boot Karate Kid, (nor Ralph Macchio, non-geeks) the original Karate Kid. The one that fought pre-Crisis Superboy to a standstill. The one that kicked Darkseid in the face. The one that gave his life to stop the Legion of Super Villains.
Here's a teaser page I saw at newsarama:
And follow this link to read an article that explains better than I ever could "why the hell do you care so much about Karate Kid of all characters?"
In short, Kid is da man.
I need to take a little online break and get some stuff done around here so I can "reward" myself with a little trip to the comic book store and get caught up on Justice League and Countdown.
Will Countdown make sense if I didn't really follow Infinite Crisis or 52?
countdown will make sense regardless if you've read IC or 52. all you really need to know is that the multiverse is back. aside from that, you won't need to know anything about IC or 52.
I dropped by the comic book store yesterday, and as excited as I had been about LSH goodness I was not able to get into JLA or Countdown. I liked the scene with Jimmy and Joker (even if the "look, we're referencing Silence of the Lambs" aspect was laid on a bit thick,) but the Batman v Karate Kid fight--which should have been a fan-boy geek-out moment for me--was really lackluster. Both versions.
A fight needs to show more than just strikes and blocks, dammit! I refer the artists to the link above for a great hero v hero fight scene. Written and drawn by Jim Shooter when he was thirteen freakin' years old yet!
So I ended up getting the first three issues of The Spirit instead. Those I enjoyed a great deal.
