All right, if you don't like cartoony art, this one might not be for you, but other than that, I strongly recommend that everyone give this a try:

There are six books worth thus far--only book one is B&W, so don't let that scare you off if you don't dig B&W comics.
It has a nice mix of action, comedy, and Machiavellian plots.
I also think that the characters are very strong. They have really strong "voices"--every time a new character is introduced, how they should sound comes through immediately. For instance, there is Othar Trygvassen:
Am I the only one who immediately imagined him with a ridiculously deep voice, like Worf or Putty from Seinfeld?
I also really like the Jagermonsters. They are these over-the-top violent monsters, but at the same time ridiculous parodies of a comical Hessian soldier.
I like Jagermonsters. "Do ve get to keel somebody naow?" That sort of thing.
The two pages I've posted are very talky, character parts, so they don't give you much of a feel for the setting, which is another neat aspect. It's a pastiche of Shelley's Frankenstein and Jules Verne and such--some call the sub-genre steam-punk. It's an approximation of the 19th century, except with real mad scientists and lots of robots.
And lots of air ships.
I like me some free stuff, but now that I've read this, I would still buy the hard copy just to have it, that's how much I enjoyed it.
The one negative is that it comes out one page at a time, three days a week. It kept me up half the night last night, but I'm caught up to the present now, and I don't really think I'd like it one page at a time, so I'm going to have to give it a few weeks and let a reasonable chunk of pages build up.
