I have a $55 Borders gift card that I'm goign to be spending on GNs. The questions are, 1) what to buy and 2) what to buy that I can't get much cheaper someplace else? (Case-in-point: I was looking at Top 10-Beyond The Farthest Precint. It costs $10.99 or so on Borders/Amazon, but it bombed so badly that I can pick it up for $5.00 at most other places.)

I was initially thinking of preordering the Rising Stars Big Huge Book that will be coming out in June, but the cost of that is $55, and once it comes out I imagine Borders/Amazon will sell it for $55 plus 15% off (like they normally do).

I was also thinking of getting New Universal, Battle for Bludhaven, or Best of Spider-Man V5, but I can also find those between $10-$15 cheaper at other places.

So for now I'm kicking around the idea of getting Annihilation:Conquest (Book 1) since I'm a huge Nova fan and a Transformer book or two. But before I finalize my purchase I figured I'd see what the fine denziens of this place think. What GNS do you all recommend? My only request is that it not be Serg's old school stuff - I find that the only things that I still really enjoy that were written before 2000 is WildStorm stuff, like Team 7, StormWatch, WildC.A.T.S. and the like. This isn't to say that the 90s stories are bad - I just prefer the artwork and complex storylines that have been in vogue the past eight or so years.

So - give me your suggestions, because I want to place my order around 3PM, EST.

I would have to recommend DC's New Frontier...I finally picked that up, and I loved the story and the art. Plus, the movie is pretty good.
Also, I really liked the Wanted (Top Cow) series. That is one of my favorite graphic novels.

Way too many factors here. In order to make a recommendation, I'd need to know if you . . .

a) Don't already have it.
b) Would like it. And . . .
c) Can't get it cheaper elsewhere.

That being said, I'll give it a shot anyway. If you haven't already been following Fables, and you want to give it a try, and don't mind not starting at the beginning, try March of the Wooden Soldiers. Or you could try Y: the Last Man. (That one, I'd start at the beginning.)

For Marvel and DC: Give me something within the past few years. So something right around the time or past Civil War and Countdown to Infinite Crisis.
