Over the summer, I got a new humidor for my ciagrs. I was not having any problems keeping the humidity around 70% until about the last week or so when the weather here in the mountains started getting colder (it hasn't gotten above the mid-60's during the day). Now, it seems like the humidity won't go over 60%. I have made sure both water containers are full, and I have even cut a piece off of a sponge, got it wet, and placed it in the humidor (something I read might help, but I don't even know if that's a smart thing to do). Anyone else have any suggestions on what to do?

Also, I have been smoking Macanudos. Anyone have any other recommendations for a nice mild cigar similar to that?

The sponge is the trick I know. Just give the box a source to soak up water from. A shotglass filled with water is the alternative I've read. If your humidor has ceder walls I've also been told to lightly wet down the inside walls as the cedar will soak it up.

Man, I haven't smoked in forever. Hell, I haven't checked my humidor in awhile. Gonna have to light one up tonight.

Is your hygrometer digital or needle? Needles can sometimes stop reading correctly based on the outside temperature/tightness of your humidor's seal. You might upgrade to a digital and see if it still reads 60%.

Also, are you using tap water or distilled? If using tap them your humidifier could be clogged and in need or replacing due to minerals in your tao water. Also a friendly tip, use distilled water mixed with a propylene glycol liquid. You can mix your own or purchase premixed wherever you buy your cigars. The propylene assists in "trapping" the water in the walls of your humidor and makes managing your humidy almost pain free.

Anyone ever tried an Iguana cigar?

1) Those iguana's are candela wrapper. You've probably had candela before and know what you're asking about, but if not...be warned. While I have never tried iguana's, candela ain't my thing at all. I've seen more mild-likers go maduro than candela.

2) 5 Vegas Gold is a pretty mild cigar. I recently bought a box of 5 Vegas Gold for my milder cravings.

3) I microplay the Cigars International route for samplers - they've been very good at creating compelling combinations. There are some good mild ones in here:

Yeah, I had one of those Humidacare things in my old humidor, but it was one of the smaller tubes and not the jar. I threw it out after a year like you are supposed to, but I just never got another one. Looks like I will have to go pick one up.
