You know, I was thinking reading some of the ballots "How much do I like Robin Hood: MiT should it make the cut?" I was having a hard time. And then it went against Monty Python and became a non issue.

Still, I remember cracking up to this movie in the theaters when I was a kid. Started my love of Dave Chappelle and my lust for Amy Yasbeck. I watched Wings for you, woman.

"Semi-funny"? SEMI-FUNNY? Look, I understand if this goes down to the Holy Grail. Really, I do. But Men in Tights was brilliant. Every person was cast perfectly in that movie. Every scene is hilarious. Cary Elwes, Dave Chapelle, and whoever played Broomhilde were all really great.

Plus, the best archery scene ever. Having seen both, I am voting for Robin Hood by the slimmest of margins.

My problem is I saw that in the theater and being a huge Brooks fan, I expected something in the vein of Young Frankenstein. Outside of Chappelle's Malcolm X impression, I didn't really laugh that much.

Yeah, it doesn't hang very well with Brooks' top class of films. Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, History of the World. You set a bar for yourself. What are you gonna do?

Wait a second. History of the World didn't make the count and this did? Really? What the fuck? Young Frankenstein too but I didn't nominate that so I can't go crazy. But History of the World? Yet Harold and fucking Kumar is in? Wow.

If any of you get a chance to go to NYC or Vegas anytime soon, watch Spamalot. It's fucking hilarious. Unless you didn't like Holy Grail, which would mean you're a lower species than bigfatgoalie.

Holy Grail is the single funniest movie ever made. It's absolutely brilliant.

British Comedy is not for everyone. I happened to like Holy Grail but some of the jokes fall flat with me and I know many people who just can't take British Humor and find it just plain dumb. This doesn't surprise me.

Agreed, M-Kid. When I say it's the funniest movie ever made, I realize how personal a statement that is. See, for example, people who voted for Grandma's Boy.

That happens to be one of the jokes I LOVE and continually quote. But there was plenty of times that I just didn't get the humor, or didn't think it was that funny. I actually really like the movie but not enough to make it on my list. And I know people, one of which is my wife, that just don't like the humor. I told her she needed to see it and we rented it and watched it together and when it was done she gave the ole "meh" to it.

This has always been the knock against Python. You have to have a working knowledge of European history and literature to truly get what they'd offering. Probably not the best thing if you're an American seeing the movie for the first time at 15.
