See, rereading that Solly link just sucks. Because Rodney and Chevy have become such jokes now that I can understand why people wouldn't want to watch Caddyshack. And Murray's been in everything and sucked at least 1/3rd of the time. Not to mention that noone under the are of 25 probably has a clue who Ted Knight is.

And for the record, whoever that girl was in the film who seduced Chevy was so insanely hot.

Wow, I thought for sure Office Space would be behind Caddyshack, and I wanted to vote to remedy that. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to take a sledgehammer to my computer while playing that song...

I like Caddyshack. I swear I do, but I fucking LOVE Office Space. Tell me that at least ten of those situations haven't happen to you in real life.

I actually hate "that totally happens in real life!" comedy. I don't get the appeal. Yes, it happens in real life. Yes, its funny when you're able to step outside it. Why are we crediting comics for basically taking a universal experience and highlighting it? Its not their joke. Its not a joke we couldn't do. What's the great worth?

Don't get me wrong, Office Space is tremendous and the weird mental state the guy is in allows for the slightly off beat reactions to these every day situations. But I can't laugh much at the "flair" joke. Why should I? Because its real? I've made better jokes on it. And I stopped making jokes on it a long time ago because they had all been made and weren't funny or original anymore.

Which is another type of comedy I think is really overrated. "I've totally made that joke with my friends!" Me too. So why are we laughing now? If a comic comes out and does the same basic routine and jokes of another comic I just saw I don't enjoy that all too much. I already saw it. So why would I enjoy it if you're doing jokes I or my friends did?

Both movies are great. But was Caddyshack that much better or different than Back to School, Stripes, Fletch, or the Vacation movies? (Just sticking with some of the big hits of the Caddyshack stars.) Office Space nailed numerous aspects of modern life, and the lack of star power actually helped.

I really like them both (and both are in the collection) but I have to vote Office Space here. It's just as much of a classic as Caddyshack, but I guess it's just a tad bit funnier to me because I can relate to it more.

They're both quoteable as all hell, though.

I voted for Caddy because it is a comedy that is less dependent on references and seems to be something that would still be funny years from now whereas OS seems to have a more contemporary humor to it. I do love OS though.

Also have to go with Caddyshack for the underrated performance of Mr. Ted Knight who uttered this great line:

"I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them."
