Alright, I love Tombstone as much as the next person. But it's going against the first film to ever garner Martin Scorsese with his long-deserved Best Director Oscar. Plus, this movie made me like Marky Mark.

Another Court fav is going down. I love Marty and The Departed was his reward for an amazing career but don't underestimate the power of Doc Holliday. We LOVE Tombstone and its sheer badassery, namely Kilmer in his best role ever. Christ, he knifes Frank Stallone in his first scene and if that ain't worth a vote I don't know what is.

You know, I've never seen the Tombstone movie poster. Damn that is bad ass.

This is very difficult. By rule, I should pick Tombstone because I have this movie in my collection, but it's a copy, not an original, so I guess that nullfies it. The Departed is an excellent movie, but being a movie that is only a year old, it's hard to decide alongside the classic Tombstone.

I hate Val Kilmer. I hate him. I think he is overrated and terrible. I hate him. I hate him almost as much as I hate that mouth breather Canoe Reeves. Almost.
That said, he was unbelievable in Tombstone. The planets must have been lined up just right while they were filming that movie, because he was out of this world as Doc Holliday.

Along the lines of what DocX just said but my hate is for Leo. After the obscene amount of pimping that Titanic got for being piece of shit movie about a god damn boat sinking, I made a vow to never watch a Leo movie again. I heard too much awesomeness about The Departed though and the rest of the cast was phenomanel, and Leo tore the fucking house down. He was terrific. I will now consider watching a Leo movie.


Oh, and Tombstone still gets my vote. Wyatt Earp is my friend.

I just want to echo Courtney and say that Marky Mark was fucking awesome in this movie.

As were Leo, Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon... shit nearly everybody was awesome in this movie. Except Jack Nicholson for some odd reason. He was good, but not awesome.

What Solly said. The bad guy expecting to meet Earp who he knows he can outdraw, and getting Doc Holliday instead? It was like the grim reaper had come to kill him personally. One of the greatest scenes ever.

In all honesty The Departed is a better movie.
(Too few Russells in it, however.)

But Tombstone has the precise amount of Russells, and a Kilmer who hadn't yet started the precipitous descent of horrific and ball-sucking proportions.

Plus, as an added bonus, the 'Stone (as the kids call it) has a 90210er in it. I forget if it's Dylan or Joey or Blake or Skylar. One o' them fuckers.

You know what kills me...the seed numbers. How the hell did the Departed get such a high seed only to get its ass kicked like this?

All of the high seeds are vulnerable in this thing. The most nominations any movie got was 9, and these polls are getting as many as 23 votes.

In the case of The Departed and Tombstone: The Departed got seven nominations, but one of the nominators (M-kid) ranked Tombstone higher, so it should have six safe votes, while Tombstone got three nominations, but one nominator (scotty) ranked The Departed higher, so it should have two safe votes. That leaves about fifteen potential votes up in the air, not even counting the possibility of folks changing their minds.

It's the swing voters who didn't like either movie enough to put it in their top 25 that every one of these matchups hinge on. And it's always tough to predict how swing voters are going to swing.

HA! The Departed underperfomed its nominations! Evangeline Lilly did that in the Hot Chicks poll. Chalk it up to the opponent just not occurring to someone. I'm sure there will be a few of these I vote in differently then my nominations. New stuff crosses your mind and people make arguements.

I've never seen The Departed, but I can't imagine not voting for Tombstone even if I had. Val Kilmer was awesome.

And any movie with Sam Elliot in it automatically gains ten coolness points.
