Ryan is another on y list of embarassing films to have not seen.

Braveheart was on that list until last year as well. It gets the nod since I got around to actually watching it. Plus it was pretty damn cool and made me curse myself for waiting so many years to see it.

M-Kid, do yourself a favor and see it ASAP. And see it on as big a screen with as loud a sound system as you can. The first 20 or 25 minutes of that movie fucking shattered me.
Braveheart is an epic, awesome movie. But SPR changed the way I view any and every war movie from now on. Fucking Spielburg, I swear to God. Between this and Schindler's List, how in the world can you explain War of the Worlds?

That's the problem with SPR though, after the epic first 20 or 25 minutes, the movie really fucking drags at points. Braveheart is awesome from start to finish and hits alot of side things. Again, I'm not a crier like Tarheel, but damn his Gibson's wife dying in the beginning didn't bring a tear to my eye.

I think they both seemed a little long, and they both have great, epic battle scenes going for them.

I think that the edge goes to Ryan for having a better ending. Ryan visiting the graveyard was great and touching, Gibson indulging once again in his torture fetish was kind of meh.

Dude, that was Gibson's first torture fetish deal, and there was no gore. I'm going with Braveheart because I'm Scottish. When he finds that guy and gives him a morning star upside the head is AWESOME.

Wha?!? There were buckets of blood in Braveheart. Legs and arms getting hacked off. Dude's wife getting her throat slit. Old boy getting his head smashed off in bed.

I love Robert the Bruce's line at the end - "you bled with Wallace, now bleed with me."

The whole start of his torture porn phase has turned me off from that movie too much. Plus the murdilation of history. I know you don't go to movies for history lessons. Fine. But, c'mon. If you're going to use their names and settings at least give a passing nod to accuracy.

I suppose it has to be SPR, even if Spielberg hasn't actually ended a movie well in 20 years. I thought the whole "crying old man" bit really sentimentalized an ending that didn't need that treatment.

There is only one worthwhile history movie. Goes by the name "Tora, Tora, Tora", and even then they used some dramatic license. The 300 is the most historically inaccurate movie in the history of movies that are supposed to represent real events.

Alright, let's see... I'm going to have to go with Braveheart on this one. I saw it first, have seen it more, and cry like a pansy everytime, more than once. And I saw it at the tail-end of my Mel Gibson crush (stemming from Lethal Weapon, of course), so I can't pass up voting for it.
