A) It doesn't necessarily matter. It is a nice bit of a bonus when you get it. And there definitely ARE some action movies with excellent acting in them, as opposed to "Everything's Getting BLOWED UP" type movies.

B) Arnie is a typical "action" actor, and, relatively speaking, not very "good" as an actor. Although he is pretty funny in some of his comedies, I agree that he doesn't have a whole ton of range or prowess aside from being huge and Austrian.
But Stallone can act. Period. He doesn't always choose to do so, and he's made some pretty shit movies as a result. But he was excellent in the first Rocky. He was excellent in First Blood. He was PHENOMENAL in Copland. I haven't seen Rocky Balboa, but I heard he's actually very good in that, too.
Yeah, there's Judge Dredd and Demolition Man and Rambo III, et al., but those are bad movies all the way around. Just because he chooses high dollar, non-taxing tripe a lot of the time, that does not automatically mean he's a shitty actor.
Seriously, see Copland and tell me that guy is incapable of acting. You can't.

The problem with Sly is for every Rocky or Copland (always underrated in my eyes as well), you get Rhinestone or Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot. That said, even with the bad roles he brings something to them, even if it's just screen presence. To me anyway, Stallone has this everyman quality to him, he's the Tom Hanks of the action world.

What's confusing about the plot of Matrix? Computers have enslaved the human race and put them in a virtual world to keep them complacent. From time to time someone starts to clue into the nature of their reality and some of them are helped to "wake up." Those people are fighting to free the human race and the computers are out to destroy them. They're unbelievably undermanned and unfit to battle but there's a belief that there is someone capable of taking full control of the VR world and being able to stand toe to toe with the computer representatives.

Its actually pretty straight forward and easy to get. Now in the 2nd and 3rd movie? I have no fucking idea. The plot goes to hell, that one agent apparently evolves as a computer program, the 2nd movie spends an hour raising philosophical questions that the 3rd just says "nah, nevermind" to, and Neo's no longer someone who can just extend the manipulation they all have over the Matrix but is now someone with legitimately super powers in the real world. And they have orgies.

The only three problems with the Matrix are (1) that the revolutionary effects have become common place and thus don't hold up as breathtaking as they were when we first saw it, (2) there were a ton of Matrix wannabe gun toting, kung fu, leather wearing movies that followed that make Matrix just look like 1 of the pack, and (3) the sequels were such utter crap and befuddled the whole Matrix story so much that they completely crap on what was a GREAT standalone film. Horrible trilogy, GREAT movie.

You are SO gay for Sly its hilarious. He brings something to Rhinestone. That's awesome.

I will completely jump on the Copland bandwagon though. I don't know if its a great film but its a really good one. Its a crazy cast. Sly, Robert DeNiro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Peter Berg, Robert Patrick, Michael Rappaport, Annabella Sciorra. And Janeane Garofalo in a "WTF?" appearance. And Deborah Harry showing up out of nowhere. Plus I liked New York Undercover so Malik Yoba. It feels kind of derivative but its a good show. And everyone I've ever turned onto that film has always had the exact same reaction. "Wow. Stallone. I did not expect that. He was great."

The Matrix was Canoe-riffic. And had Othello being all cryptic.
We need not struggle.

Let's just all agree that Solly is, in fact, waaayy too gay about smallish Italian action movie heroes.
I mean, he is, right? He's got to be gay for Sly. There's no other real explanation. The whole smear. Dog collars. Gag balls. The works.

The Matrix is more sci-fi until the last 30 minutes. Right? It's been sooooo long since I tried watching it and the only parts I remember liking were the teaching Canoe karate or whatever and the final 30 minutes when something, you know, happened.

Other than that, I was bored out of my fucking skin.
