Superman IV had Nuclear Man, a Thor-esque looking guy who sounded like Gene Hackman... and instead of Ned Beatty for comic relief, you had Jon Fucking Cryer.

Highlander II had Connor McLeod using "the prize" to make a giant shield over the earth so the UV rays could stop killing people. Also of note, immortals are actually space aliens/from the past and in the future, we'll all use technology from the 1930's. For some odd reason, returning spirits of immortals cannot pass through the outer space protecto-shields and end up in Scotland to interrupt a small theatre production of MacBeth. Also, when one transports through time, one has one's memory wiped and is dropped into different eras.

Superman IV just had Nazi superman and crappy special effects.

These are both two bad movies. Really bad. Superman 4 though ranks as one of if not the first movies I paid money to see in the theater and emerged thinking "wow - I just got screwed." That impression persists today - I think Superman 4, I think opportunity cost of how that money could have been otherwise spent. Baseball cards. LPs. CBBC's mom. Anything better than this.

EDIT: ok CBBC's mom is a stretch. Kind of like her marks.

You know, after reading these recounts it occurs to me that I too have never seen any of these movies. Considering how big budget they are and how the only other movie in this showdown I don't think I've seen is Savage Guns that's really kind of amazing. But I'm also pretty happy.

I voted for Highlander 2 here, just because I know Superman IV exists and Highlander 2 never happened...Therefore it has to be worse the movie that was actually made. When fans of a movie/show/series come together and force a "Renegade Version" of a movie that is still considered one of the worst of all time, there's something to be said for just how fucking horrible the original version of Highlander 2 is.

Now here's some bad news...The people who have seen the new Highlander movie; Highlander: The Source; say that it makes Highlander: The Quickening look like one of the best movies of all time. I can't wait.
