Let's start a game of this.

Start with a silly phrase or picture.
First person to legitimately work it into a post OOver there....get's to identify the next phrase.
By legitimately, I mean it needs to come across as being part of the post/thread. No just posting the pic/phrase with no context about it.

Since I got Pun's thing, I'll go next.

The phrase that pays:

She's as hot as Rosario Dawson. And by that, I mean not hot at all.

First person to work that Rosario Dawson quote into a post OOver there should then let us all know here in this thread that they did it, and then tee up the next phrase that pays.



EDIT: just re-clarifying. There is only one active "phrase that pays" at a time. It's not any phrase/picture that's been used here at any time.

I give this 4 days before someone either notices that Punsters are turning really weird phrases or actually comes over here and sees this and remarks. Not saying you should stop or that its a problem. Definitely isn't. It was just the first thought that crossed my mind. Of course I was expecting people to be a lot less subtle about some of these. I read "some men love kittens" and the "jock itch" one before coming to this thread and didn't even notice them.

I actually was thinking this could be more fun for you guys if you could make it a bit more secretive. But I'm not sure how to make that happen. My best idea is a sort of game of tag. So if Tex were to start the game he'd privately PM someone with a weird phrase that they'd have to slip intelligently into a post over there. When/If he succeeded he'd then be responsible to tag someone else with a private PM with a new phrase. But I don't know if that would actually be more fun or not. This way anyone who wants to play can do so.

Just thinking out loud. Well, not really. I'm just typing what I'm thinking.

I get what you're saying Lucky, and I'm (not that this is a me thing at all) open to suggestions on other ways of keeping this as open as possible to as many people w/o turning it into something overly obvious.

Granted we've only had a few tries at this, but so far I think we've been good. I was tempted to do the Serena one in my post reply to you in the Divas thing but backed out cuz that would be too much of me and didn't want that standing out.

If this was just "post a phrase or picture" without really really forcing it into the context of what's going on in threads/posts, I could see it being problematic. Hell, to that end...we'll impose temp bans on anything that doesn't pass the sniff test.

And in all honestly, I don't know that this is really a problem. Sure, we're playing a game in OO backyard. But the game also forces people over there and reading posts and replying. Not that people weren't, but I think the biggest criticism Punboards has gotten is that it siphons off reading and posting that "belongs at OO", and this is actually encouraging it.

Anyhow....if we get yelled at (or worse), shit happens.

Now go back to looking at pictures of horses and Puerto Rican boys. ;D ;D ;D

Its not a problem. Don't worry. I didn't mean to suggest that and I don't expect to be yelled at. At most I expect to simply get a curious question or comment during the week about it. As long as it stays intelligent and doesn't just become people posting weird things for the purpose of this I see no problem. If things get really silly and pointless at some stage I could see this getting some negative reaction like when there was that habit of people posting "Exalt!" or "Smite!" over there. But that's no big deal either. It just means Prime or someone else leaves a snipey post.

Really, I didn't mean this to in any way be a "stop" message. Like I said, I think you guys did a really good job thus far to the point where I missed a couple of the phrases over there. I was just typing out loud, or whatever.

Besides, if I could stop one thread on this board because I didn't like it I assure you it wouldn't be this one. If this goes long enough I'll probably even play once or twice.

The only thing I would suggest in all of this would be to not just use OO. Surely some of us frequent other message boards - fark, somethingawful, etc. If you could work it into a post at any other board, it might make it even funnier. My only concern is that someone over there is gonna get pissed and want everyone participating gone.

I think as long as it's a legit post that makes sense it won't matter. Take mine for instance. I was gonna post something about LeBron no matter what and I just added that in there. As long as it's a real post with a weird line and not a weird line in a forced post I highly doubt anyone will even notice.

And I only have ever been on this board and OO, so I don't want to ever have to look at another one...

Exactly. As long as it doesn't become Punsters posting in threads purely to toss around the phrase of the day, it should be fine. I was just worried it might be that is all. But you guys have done an excellent job thus far of making it mean something. And most of them have been in threads that feel like they would have existed with or without the phrase.
