For some reason I hated Jericho in WCW. I didn't watch much but when I did I didn't like him. But when he came to WWF in 1999 he quickly became one of my favorites. Him becoming the first Undisputed Champion is one of the biggest pleasant surprises ever to end a PPV.

Hey Dev, I've only watched a couple of early ROH shows, (watching them in order) but I've loved Danielson in the ring. Not so much on the mic. Has he gotten any better?

Danielson is one of a handful of HBK's only personally trained students. He, Brian Kendrick, Lance Cade, Hernandez of LAX, and Simply Luscious, I think. He's done Japan and has worked in ROH since the beginning and is one of their "founding fathers" with Lo Ki and Christopher Daniels. He's basically become the best American indie wrestler and in many people's minds the best wrestler in the world, period. He wrestles hour long matches. He's a stiff striker, a great mat technician and submission wrestler. He's also a goofy looking bastard and seemingly lightly psychotic (in the Foley sense and like most of those idiot ROH guys seem). A few years back he, Samoa Joe, and CM Punk were the hands down agreed upon 3 gems of indie wrestling and both TNA and WWE supposedly made a rush to sign them. TNA got Joe, WWE got Punk, Danielson stayed on his own. And a year or so ago he took time off and it was rumored he was going to retire to join the Peace Corps or something. But he didn't and he's still wrestling. If you can get into an hour long fight with a guy with a horrible look and a company with bad production he might become your god. If you're someone who thinks TNA looks bush league then Danielson is probably the walking and talking definition of that old "Vanilla Midget" tag put on Malenko and Benoit.

Danielson's pretty great. And I don't love Jericho like some do. But Jericho wins.

He's definitely gotten better on the mic as he was basically fresh out of wrestling school when ROH started. I'll admit he's no where near Jericho peak levels, but he can damn well hold his own with regards to promos and stuff like that. Secondly, the guy is a legit fucking badass who had his orbital bone broken recently, kept wrestling in the match and took massive punishment to his face/eye during the match and in the following weeks. Call it stupid, call it drugs, or call it whatever it's awesome to see. He's probably the best technical wrestler in the world at the moment and Regal wants him in WWE badly and Danielson's considered it here and there but probably correctly feels that sometimes it's better to be the gigantic fish in a medium pond than a goldfish in an ocean.

Also, Bryan Danielson brought the following chant to independent wrestling and just because it's so different, you have to love him for it. He's made really pathetic smarky crowds chant, "You're Gonna Get You're Fucking Head Kicked In." I know it's an English soccer chant, but its so totally awesome to hear.

And I know there's not a chance in hell he's winning unless Folby comes over here and registers 45 different names, but he doesn't deserve to be shut out besides me. And just so people don't assume all he does are hour-long matches, his best matches have probably been the 15-25 minute slugfests with Morishima and Nigel, but when the time comes he's able to put on brilliant psychological masterpieces with everyone from the "funny" Colt Cabana, to the "bland" Roderick Strong, to the "monster" Samoa Joe, to the "next big thing" Austin Aries.

Its stupid and good odds say its at least in part drugs. Of course getting back in the ring 3 weeks later against Morishimo who started wailing away with stiff shots to the hurt area? I didn't mean to make it sound like he was just a marathon guy. Danielson is one of the most well rounded guys in the business as best as I've seen. Joe, HBK, Daniels, 'Cide. I can't think of many more I'd compare. I just thought to mention that he is capable of wrestling hour long matches that entertain was a worthy feather in his cap.

And he's not horrible on the mic but I'd barely call him good. I don't even think he's up to Joe's level, who isn't much more than cool and calm with intensity.

Jericho's brilliant on the mic, but Danielson's brilliant in the ring.

Danielson (along with Samoa Joe) managed to make me (and lots of other people) buy into the idea that the ROH title is the real World title, based just on the level of competition for it and the mystique they managed to surround it with.

I've been equally impressed with his wrestling in 5 minute Velocity tryout matches and in 40 minute indy main events.

I'm going with Danielson.

Been meaning to check out this ROH stuff as I'm getting way too bored with the WWE, but Jericho's WCW run wins automatically against a guy I've only heard of.
