There's no WWE today without Piper the uber-heel going against Hogan's super-babyface in the Rock N Wrestling era. It doesn't work if everyone didn't want to see Hogan triumph... and at 10 I was rooting for Hogan. Piper is probably the first guy I remember to walk that tweener line and goddamn if he wasn't able to pull off both convincingly. His ring work wasn't great but he always told a good story.

Eddie wasn't much on the stick, I think Lucky pointed out all the "esses" and "holmes" overkill... but when he wanted to be serious his promos were solid. In the ring, he was crisp and always put on a great show.

This is tough for me but Piper's combined character and ring work > Eddie's.

Piper gets my vote.

This was close for me, truly; but it came down to, when Eddie was a face, and he got a cheating victory; he got cheered. That's awesome. I really flipped a coin though; could have gone either way.

Piper's great, and people love him, but most of us love Eddie more.

I'd love to see Piper advance further, but not at Eddie's expense. Sorry it had to go down like that.

I didn't look at the seedings. I just assumed Piper was ranked higher. I had him #8 overall. Eddie was 21 or lower -- he didn't make the cut.

To me, then, this is a huge upset. Without Piper jobbing to Wrestlemanias I and II, the industry wouldn't be what it is today.

I agree. If Piper and Hogan had been more even and Piper had a chance to win the belt at some point, wrestling would've been much different.

Piper did a lot for the industry, but that really doesn't make him better than Eddie, just more important. But not better. I think Eddie was maybe the most consistently entertaining wrestler of all time, either him or Jericho.

This is probably the toughest one for me. I loved Eddie and Piper is one of my top 10.

In the end, I gave it to Piper based solely on pure entertainment.
