Maybe I'm being crazy here, but in the last couple of years Edge has become the best heel I think I've ever seen. Even if Kurt's work in the ring is better, I think Edge takes it.

You're right about Edge being an awesome heel.
Angle, too, is an awesome heel. Two of the best of this "generation".

It was really close; and I think in 5 years, I would have voted differently.

Kurt doesn't have the extensive back log of jaw dropping tag work. Edge & Christian were my favorite tag team of all time and their feud with The Hardys have really made 4 pretty good solo careers. 2 of which earned World Titles and one more that is performing (or was before suspension) at World Title Level.

Edge is a great heel no doubt, but for the life of me I can't think of a great singles match he was in. He's a great character and delivers a great promo but his best match doesn't even compare to Angle's worst.

I couldn't give a flying fuck about Olympic Wrestling and I love tag wrestling. So I'm gonna have to disagree with that advantage.

Its "tag career & awesome heel" vs "awesome wrestler" as far as I'm concerned. Edge hasn't set the world on fire in the ring as a main eventer and the couple of matches I can think of are gimmick/hardcore matches (Flair/Edge TLC, Cena/Edge TLC, Foley/Edge WM, Foley & Edge vs Dreamer & Funk). On the flip side I have never like Angle as a character and promo guy and still don't. Edge destroys him there. Angle gets negative points there.

But Angle's got the ring resume to win, IMO.

I like both guys, but I voted Angle here. I won't be devastated if Edge wins, but I think Angle deserves the nod here.

And while Angle may not be as good on the mic as Edge, I think his stuff in TNA has been really good

I'm surprised and chagrined to even need to be campaigning for Angle this early. I was expecting to be able to save this until he was up against Austin or Bret next round.

Points in favor of Angle:

1) He ripped stuff off from everybody--

Flair's wooh! Shawn's little hoppy-spinny dance. Benoit's hat trick. Shamrock's ankle lock. And the moonsault is hardly innovative. (Though his is the coolest looking, in my opinion.)
Why is this a point in his favor? He's hardly ever called a rip-off artist, because he took all of these things and made them his own.

2) He innovated stuff that no-one has ever ripped off from him, 'cause nobody else could even do that shit. Specifically, I'm talking about the running superplex here. I think we've all seen the move enough that we've forgotten how shocking it was that that was even possible when we first saw it. (I know it popped my eyes out of my head, anyhow.)


3) Nobody else can do self-deprecating, un-self-aware comedy like Angle. Edge is great at mocking his opponent as a face, or being the butt of their jokes as a heel. But "accidentally" being the butt of your own joke? Nobody does that like Angle. I've been looking all over for a picture of Angle in the little kid's cowboy hat. Can't find it but whatever--you all remember. Here's Angle "accidentally" making himself sound like a pedophile while trying to cut a promo on Mysterio:


4) He has had incredible feuds with just about all of my other favorites: Benoit, Eddie, Mysterio, Joe, Austin, HBK. I can't think of anybody else who was such a great nemesis for so many different guys, and helped many of them reach the next level.His feud with Edge certainly helped him gain the credibility to be in the main event.

Me too. And it worked because in a world full of badasses (Austin, HHH, Taker, etc.) and smartasses (Jericho and Rocky), Kurt was just this goofy guy who could wrestle. While Angle is one of one of my all time faves, he lost a bit of his charm once he went into Olympic wrestling machine killer mode in '03 or so.

As much as I prefer Edge in style, look and promos...

Angles substance is just that much better in my opinion. He had some great matches in WWE but he's had some brilliant ones in TNA, especially in my mind the Joe series and his first match with Kaz.

I actually thought Kaz would win due to Angle taking alot of moves I just don't think you'd see other established veterans take or even attempt.

I'm just waiting for Crazy Ass Angle to take a Canadian Destoyer for some reason
