There can only be one jabroni beating, pie eating, heartstopping, elbow dropping, trail blazing, eye brow raising people's champ - Booker T, I mean the Rock. Though I did love when Booker stole that. If I remember correctly, I also think that's about the time Rock started getting on Mike's nerves. I'm a mark for champs that rhyme, as my other favorite rhyming champ was of course Ali, who once wrestled with an aligator, tussled with a whale, handcuffed lightinning and throwed thunder in jail. I can't confirm this, but I'm pretty sure he murdered a rock. I saw him injury a stone and hospitalize a brick. And we all knew he was mean enough to make medicine sick.

Didn't Sting just come in as a new face when Flair was running low on face main eventers? What did he do before that? He got over quick and then just never lost his heat. His build was average. His mic skills were average. His look was so average he had to wear face paint to just be somewhat interesting. His work rate was average. His personality was average. He was just an average guy that got over quick thanks to other people and retained his heat with the sheep. Never understood why.

If you got the joke and decided to just shit on Sting a bit more then have at it. Owen would have been at Val Venis' level if he lived. But Sting has been an amazingly over icon for 20 years based on makeup and a quick fix.

We had this damn debate weeks ago. You want to have it again? He was 10x the wrestler Dusty was, had more charisma, and lasted longer. He also reinvented himself during the hottest period in wrestling history to become THE FUCKING FACE for the FUCKING HEELS of wrestling's biggest story ever. But he was never a Nugget.

But you admitted weeks ago that you were a hypocrite towards Dusty and Sting and you've never once presented an argument for Dusty other than him being Flair's foil. But Flair's foil for the next 10 years got dismissed anyway.

Dev, Tommy, and I have been making exaggerated Owen comments for a week now. But striking up the SAME argument we had 2 or 3 weeks ago that got no conclusion seems silly and pointless. We get it. Some people think Sting is awesome. Some people think Sting is a mediocre nothing who got lucky, had a bad build, couldn't talk, needed a gimmick, and stayed over on pure timing and luck. I think its clear that with people like me, Dev, Moose, and Creepy that those opinions aren't changing any time soon.

So tell us to shut up with the Owen stuff if its not funny and annoying. But what's the point of debating the same topic we already did?

I used to like when Sting and Flair had their dueling Whoooo's! Even though I think Sting's was less of a "whooo" and more of an "AHHHHH!"

I think he had a "Whoo!" and an "AHHH!" "AHHH!" was when he hulked up and did his pose. So Flair would "Whooo!" and slap him across the chest and Sting would "AHHH!" and muscle up and take it.

But he "Whooo!"'d when he put his hands to his mouth. And yeah, I always enjoyed that the two arch rivals had slightly different versions of the same signature. It was like Dreamer and Raven both doing the same basic pose but slightly varied. It just emphasized that they were blood rivals and always would be. And the slight differences spoke up to who they were.

Sting's "whoooo" was excited and to the fans. Flair's was arrogant and a taunt to his opponent.
Dreamer's pose was tight and intense, he was pumped up. Raven's was relaxed and quick, because he didn't really care.

I just read an article (can't find the source right now) that was an interview with Naitch and he said that Steamboat was actually his biggest rival and best opponent.

I think its safe to say Flair had 3 arch rivals. I've heard him describe each one as his best at some time or another. He had 3 great foils who HE is the arch rival of. So I would imagine that depending on his mood or what he's judging on his answer of which is best would change.

Makes sense. I'd assume 2 of the 3 would be Sting and Steamboat. I'd assume Rhodes would be the third but whomelse could fill that spot? Plus, it allways seemed like Flair appreciated the people who could go in the ring. And as much as I love Rhodes, workrate isn't the biggest asset he brings to the ring.

I was thinking Dusty. I think you could probably make a clear argument for any of the 3. Dusty was his rival when Flair and the Horsemen were ruling wrestling. He may not have had the best matches or promos but he was the opposition to the greatest stable in wrestling history.

Steamboat might not have had the rich history but he could make the best matches and bring out the best in Flair. They're the matches you want on a retrospective.

Sting is sort of the middle ground. He wasn't Flair's rival during that biggest run, but he was for a decade. He wasn't the wrestler Steamboat was but he was worlds better than Dusty and the two could have a good-great match every time out. And I think Flair basically prides himself on making an icon.

I've heard him say Sting is his favorite opponent. I've heard him say Steamboat and Dusty. I'm sure it changes depending on what he wants and how he's feeling. If he wanted the great 4 star match I'd want Steamboat. If you wanted the dastardly heel story with an intense crowd it might be Dusty. As I said, I think Sting has the balance.

I'd bet Funk has some place with Flair too because Flair seemed to thrive on the seemless switch from pure technical heel to awesome brawling face. I don't think he'd hold up to the longevity or history of the other 3, but I would think Funk and probably Race as well have to be on Flair's list.

After that, I'd guess you'd go with some combination of Hogan, Savage, and HHH.
