I was listening to the radio and they played a song called "Smiling Faces Sometimes." I'd heard of the song (as it's in Marsh's Heart of Rock and Soul book of 1,001 greatest singles) but I'd never actually heard it--I don't think.

Anyway, it's an awesome tune, with really ominous lyrics about how people sometimes smile to your face while planning to betray you behind your back. It would make an awesome wrestling feud song--you know the song playing behind the clips recapping everything that led up to a big blow-off match--for the right storyline. Something like Matt vs MVP, or a tag-team break-up feud.

Any songs that you all think would be great for one of those clip videos? Or favorite examples of songs that were used that way?

Shawn Michaels' Tell Me A Lie video after he lost his "smile". Makes me want to hurl.

EDIT: I'll add a positive one as the video package leading up to Triple H/HBK at Summerslam 2002. The song kicked ass and was perfect for that feud.

No song will ever be used as well as November Rain when ECW used it to build up their biggest show of the year at the time; November 2 Remember. The song is long enough that they could feature clips from every ongoing issue and whoever put them together at the time made every build hit on the right note. Damn I miss N2R.

Second is probably Hurt by Cash when they did the Eddie Guerrero special. That felt like something magical.

And then third, I'm not sure what the video was specifically for but Kid Rock's Lonely Road of Faith-Desire video was really well done.

I second Dev's first two choices. I can't hear "Hurt" without having to take a deep breath. And I just recently saw the November Rain video on youtube and that was pretty awesome.

And chip, the HHH/HBK 2002 song was great too.

A pesronal fave of mine that I even favorted on youtube is the Rock/Stone Cold WM17 build. I know 90% of people hate Limp Bizkit, but I thought "My Way" fit their feud perfectly. "Crack Addict" two years later? Not so much.

If it weren't about a guy and a girl, I'd nominate "I Hate Everything About You." I mean, what' s more pure in wrestling than hate?

Though I will nominate another 3 Days Grace song in "My Time of Dying"

Matt/Edge would have been a good feud to feature that song. "I will not die, I will survive....I will not die, I'll wait here for you, I feel alive, when you're beside me."

Oh, hell yeah. "I will fight till there's nothing left, till my legs are gone, you won't forget me." Pretty much the perfect wrestling song.



I love that Finger Eleven song for Benoit, too.
