I just posted in the Wrestling thread about WrestleMania in 2010, and it got me thinking.

In 2010, what do we call it? I cna't figure it out...

Ten just sounds dumb.
Oh-Ten just is dumb.
Twenty-Ten is okay, but we're a society that needs to abbreviate that shit.

I think we need to make a decision now. Maybe we, as a board, can trademark it? Yeah, imagine the cash flow. Almost as much as buying OnlineOnslaught.com and turning it into porn!

No. "Aught" means zero. "Aught eight" means '08, "aught ten" would mean "zero ten" which doesn't even make sense.

I really think it's going to be "twenty ten" and so forth. Abbreviating out the "20" sounds really dumb until you get to at least 2020. And from the '20s on, the continuing impact of 20th century American popular culture will prevent abbreviation--in my opinion. That is, '29 still means 1929 and flappers and speakeasies to people, and I don't think that's going to change in the next twenty years.

But, who knows? I could be wrong about that.

It's because it'll turn out time is cyclical, and in the 20s, there'll be a new prohibition, with a cyborg Al Capone running the bootlegging racket. Only the test subjects of Project: U.N.T.O.U.C.H.A.B.L.E.S. will be able to do anything about it.
