I'm always hesitant about downloading a new browser until I've talked with other people who have used it. Someone said it even helped the OO board lag. Anyone have any thoughts?

Yeah. I've been reading up on it for a bit.

The browser is incoprporating some important security features that are in Firefox 4 and IE 8. This isn't a skin on Mozilla as we were lead to believe but a engine of googles that uses some components of Mozilla and other engines such as gecko (Konquerer (linux browser))

So far so good. Reminds me of Safari in looks.

Looks like they have flash and shockwave built-in.

Roboform and Yahoo Toolbar so far doesn;t seem to work. I haven't tried to load Google Toolbar in it yet either. But for Beta 1 is pretty fucking solid. It may replace Firefox for me, especially if I can use FF plugins.

Google just announced that they will have extension support in the next version.

I personally like that Chrome has inline spelling correction.

The browser actually has Google's proxy engine built in that pre-fetches websites based on frequency of usage and other boring metrics, but since portions of the website are local to your PC, the website is much MUCH faster.

After about 1 week I like it. Next release with the inclusion of the FF add on engine and it's own plugin system it should be even more interesting. As of now it's in something like 4th place for usage according to whomever the fuck measure shit like that.

Do you have java installed? They do have a custom java engine. Perhaps their custom one no likey the chat room. I'll do some investigation...

With the latest version installed 0.2.149.29 I see the java app area with the message "No media plugin is found".

yup. and unlike firefox, where if you don't have the plugin you can click the area and download it, nothing happened when i clicked the area and there appeared to be no way to acquire it.

Yeah. I did some research and they said that's coming in the next Beta build. Make sure to go to About and click check for updates. It doesn't appear to automatically check itself...

Once it's working I'll let you know.

found a new neat little feature on chrome.

you can grab the corner of the quick reply box (or it seems any multi-line input box) and enlarge it to whatever size and shape fits your need.

not something that's gonna change the way the internet is surfed, but it seemed kinda neat.
