Except for VII, I'm kinda adverse to the whole Final Fantasy genre, but Anthony, the BF, lists our #14 Final Fantasy XII as one of his favorites. That said, it's going against one of my faves, #3 Chrono Trigger.

I still haven't played FFXII, but I watched my roomate play. Basically you can set the game to play itself. They wanted to make it more like a MMORPG, but that took away the turn-based fun I loved from all of the other FF games. You have to set up the "gambits" so your teammates actually do something useful, and you can use them on the party leader, too.

Chrono Trigger wins here. I never got to play the SNES version, but I enjoyed the PSX one, and I am looking forward to the DS port later this year.

I really liked FFXII. I kept all the gambit simple so the game didn't realy play itself. I would pause the gameplay and set up almost every single move.

It is hard for me to argue this. I never played Chrono and I'm a sucker for the storylines and awesome scenes in the FF series especially the PS2 games.

I believe the PSX one is an exact port of the SNES one with added cut-scenes.

Chrono Trigger was such a good game. I'll also be looking forward to the DS port.
