Monday was the first time I'd played in since the baby was born. 4 months! I am so out of shape. I was winded by the second inning. I still pitched pretty good though.

In fairness I was actually blown up after my warm up lap BEFORE the game. I found out the thing that I have the most rust with right now is my htting timing. I'm ahead of the ball. I ripped plenty of balls well foul down the left field line. I need to retrain myself to wait on the pitch and drive it up the middle.

I have a doubleheader this Thursday. Hopefully the diet and excersie starts to kick in by then because otherwise I'll be hurting on Friday.

A group of about fifteen of my friends were kicking around the idea of joining a coed city league, so we've been going out and playing every Thursday night for the past five weeks just to see how we do. We've gotten better as the weeks progress, but as far as joining a league, we're still not sure of it. There's too many stupid ass rules... can't wear cleats, guys can't use certain types of bats, have to have at least two girls in the infield... it's fucking dumb.

Can't wear any cleats? In our league you can't wear metal cleats.

The bats rule is failr common. Some of the bats are WAY too hot for a Coed League.

The 2 girls rule is very common in Coed. I tend to think it is a good rule. The one thing that annoys me about the league I'm in now is that P doesn't count as IF. In my first Coed league you needed 2 girls but if you had a P you could play a guy at 3B, SS, and 1B. This really gave an advantage to a team that has a girl that can pitch. In my league now the P is counted towards the battery. If a girl pitches then a guy MUST play Catcher. And you still need 2 girls in the IF. I really don't like that.

Well yeah, you can still wear rubber cleats, but that's lame.

It might be a good rule if you have girls who can play. Too bad we don't. I don't wanna join a league and have the person playing second base drop 90% of balls thrown to her, and can't field a grounder to save her soul.

You probably need to not play in a Coed League. If you are playing with girls who can't field a ball but still want to use metal spikes and the best bats then I don't know what to even say. I play in a Coed League and a Men's League. Coed Leagues tend to be very relaxed and the goal is usually more to have fun and get some exercise then to be ultra competitive. The Men's Leagues are all about winning. I'm sure if you found some females that could play you could find a Coed League that didn't have as strict of rules but I've never seena league like that yet. Most of the rules are there to try and balance out the game. And the key to most Coed Leagues is that the best girls win. In our league many of the guys are about equal and the teams that do best are the teams that have girls that can hit and field. 3 years ago we had a bunch of girls that never played. We went 2-8. Each year we find girls that are good and the othr girls have been leaving the team (most likely being intimidated by the ones that can play or feeling inadequate). The result is we have the same group of guys but now our team is filled with girls that can play and we go 7-3 or 8-2.

Honestly, stuff like the "no metal cleats" thing pisses me off because it's so unnecessary. Like you can't get more hurt a thousand other ways while playing.

Yeah, the metal cleats thing is for safety punker. Guys still go into 2B with cleats up to break up a double play. Considering most guys wear shorts, if metal was allowed, you'd have to have a doctor out there every night to stitch up guys' legs.
