The game's gotten a lot of really bad press. Like a LOT. Like "this game is fucking horrible" stuff. Thing is, for whatever reason TNA can't seem to get any press on the web besides "THIS IS FUCKING HORRIBLE!" And like the on screen product the bad press has been riddled with clear inaccuracies that the critics ignore. There was a really big huff being made about signature moves of TNA stars like the Angle Slam, the Scorpion Death Lock, the Axe Kick, and the Styles Clash not being in the game yet there has been numerous footage of those moves released and mention that they're in there. But people seem happy to just scream about how ridiculous and pathetic TNA is for leaving out them anyway. There's been a lot of issue with missing wrestlers but its been revealed that Beer Money is in there, Suicide is most likely Kaz, and that Petey Williams and Curry Man will be downloadable characters. Its basically been amusing that like everything TNA does the IWC seems 100% unwilling to give them ANY benefit of the doubt and happy to jump on ANY claim of their stupidity no matter how unlikely that its true.

That being said it does sound like the game might be behind things and far from the best possible product. It sounds like even TNA and Midway are saying that they could have done better and they hope to do better with their 2nd attempt. I know one thing that I read that seems reliable is that there is no referee because the game can only handle 4 characters on screen at one time, which seems like a throwback to like 10 years ago.

People were really hoping that the game was going to be some kind of renaissance to the good ole days of No Mercy. But it looks like its the same level of mediocre stuff that WWE has apparently been putting out (although it sounds like its due to TNA/Midway's inexperience rather than supposed WWE/THQ's half assed approach). But the web seems to be anticipating ECW Hardcore Revolution or Backyard Wrestling due in large part to reports that appear to be false.

Me? I just bought a couple of OLD Smackdown games used (from before RAW vs Smackdown even) and am enjoying playing story modes I never played before. And there's still a few left at the Gamestop I can pick up. So I suspect I'll be fine until I can find a used copy there for $10.

Yeah, I read the reviews at IGN ect and they basically said it was fun for a bit, but then sucked. Honestly, I'd rather here it from someone I trust and has played it then some schmuck...

It's on my Gamefly queue, but I'm not expecting to get it any time soon since I already have four games out. I really should finish up Alone in the Dark and send that one back.

In case you were wondering about that one, it fucking sucks.
