That being said I just bought this on VC and man is it cool. Not the best Zelda game but pretty damn good.

Ocarina got my vote without hesitation... but I'm kind of sad that WM 2000 and No Mercy could fall in the 1st round despite being arguably the 2 best wrestling games... meanwhile at the moment Wrestlefest is hanging with Mario Kart 64 for some weird reason. I don't know.

Had I played Ocarina this mgiht be different. Wrestlemania 2000 was the reason I bought the N64. Prior to that I owned Sega Saturn & Playstation.

Wrong. Not only is it the best Zelda of all time, it's the best video game of all time. Period.

I still have yet to play Twilight Princess but Ocarina of Time definitely has my vote as the best. I did like the dark tone of Majora's Mask but I don't think I ever finished it.

Yeah, I was wondering. If I remember correctly WM2000 was a kick ass game but No Mercy had everything it had with a larger roster, better graphics, better create-a-wrestler, backstage stuff, new matches, and an insanely deep story mode for EACH title that branched off in different directions based on your decisions and match results.

I really need to hook up my N64.

I played No Mercy too, but it was after WM2000. It seemed to me like they were basically the same game. I may have to give NM another shot. I still think they are the best wrestling games ever. They are the easiest to play games for sure. I really hate having to push 12 buttons in the right order in 3 seconds just to get a punch off. These two had it right. I am hoping the TNA games takes its cue from these two, but I have my doubts

They were very similar styles but No Mercy was much deeper. I mean, how much you played it might have meant not noticing it but the story possibilities were HUGE! There seemed to be an endless number of ways your story could go based on wins and losses, where the WM 2000 story mode didn't allow you to lose. If you lost you were given the option to replay until you won so the story could advance.

The game play actually changed a bit, not in the controls but rather in the move options. You couldn't hit your big moves early in the match anymore, which meant a match had to have a more natural flow where you had to wear a guy down before you could hit him with a powerbomb, like just in real life. And I think it was the first game where a small guy would struggle to lift a big guy.

And the create-a-wrestler mode was way advanced, although whether or not you used that who knows? I was in college and we loved doing that stuff and I also loved grabbed CAWs off the web and adding my favorite wrestlers who weren't in the game. No Mercy had the perfect mix of detail and ease to do that. I think you might be able to make better CAWs now but not without wasting 4 hours of your life.

Really, the only complaint I had with the game was the weird inclusion of Steven Richards as a World Title contender in story mode.


And no, it doesn't sound like TNA Impact is much like the classic No Mercy controls, although I have seen good reviews of the game play. In fact that seems to be the appeal of it. Its supposedly a fun game to play, even if its lacking in detail, fine tuning, and much of the stuff that WWE games now have. But a fun and fast paced match style.

Wasn't Steven Richards a last minute replacement for Big Show for the story mode? If I remember, Big Show was supposed to be in it, but was taken out at last minute. I think all the dialogue for Richards was written for Show.

Makes sense. It was always just so weird to play.

EDIT: Actually yeah, it makes sense because I'm pretty sure that story was the HHH/Foley one and the WM 2000 main event was HHH vs Foley vs Rock vs Show. No Show and you get RTC Stevie.

Well, in fairness, I've only played like 3 -4 hours of it. It's still quite good, but I need to finish it to rank it in the Zelda pantheon.

My friends and I played a WM2000 league, where we'd draft in-game wrestlers, and then every couple of weeks, we'd bring in created wrestlers. I was a champion for 2 seasons with my CAW version of Clubber Lang. He was a fantastic wrestler, with the Hangman DDT as his finisher. Gawd I miss those days.

I had Wrestling Jesus with Jericho entrance who held the Hardcore title but never went outside of traditional rules because he wished to reform the division. And only won by submission because he wanted everyone to choose their own fate. But did have a crucifix powerbomb.

Strangely enough his tag partner was an Angel by the name of Michael Gabriel Raphael. The odd part was after a couple of loses Michael Gabriel Raphael turned on Jesus. It was... upsetting.
