Hogan's Black Eye at WM IX

If you were unfortunate to ever see WrestleMania IX, you may recall Hulk Hogan's legit black eye he was sporting during the show. Announcers Jim Ross, Randy Savage, and Bobby Heenan speculated its cause during the show. Was the REAL story ever discovered?

I also remember a kayfabe attack at the "WrestleMania Breakfast" or some bullshit that Lex Luger KO'ed champion Bret Hart with the steel-plated forearm (and what was the reason for THAT?) and the announcers tried to possibly link Luger to Hogan's black eye, as well.
All I know is that the whole thing seemed REALLY weird.

Hulk Hogan's visibly damaged eye was explained in the storyline to be the result of Ted DiBiase hiring a group of men to attack Hogan before the match. In reality, the cause of injury has been open to debate. One theory is that Randy Savage believed that Elizabeth Hulette had an affair with Hogan while Savage and Hulette were married (the couple divorced in 1992).WWF officials claimed that the injury was the result of a Jet Ski accident.
