I was never a big fan of FPS with the exception of Goldeneye. Give me the gold cartridge here.

I only played MGS 3 briefly when it first came out like, four years ago... but as far as I remember, it's not a first person shooter.

It's a 3rd person game where the camera angle changes, but you can engage in gunfire in first person mode. But you don't ever move around in first person.

It also doesn't play like an FPS, either. It's espionage/action. You sneak around a lot, trying not to be seen/heard/found.

Yeah it gets most actiony in the boss fights.

Curious, I've only played MGS1 and 2, is 3 really better? 2 was a lot of fun to play, but ultimately too short, became extremely convoluted at the end, and made you play as Raiden in the second half. I guess 3 not having Raiden already makes it better, eh?

I LOVED the first MGS, though.

That was Revolver Ocelot? Where's his cool russian accent?

Yeah, I think there's a lot more to the gameplay in Snake Eater. It's like a cross between Rambo and Bond, and you have to go across a lot more varied set of locales(jungles, bases, swamps, underground tunnels, up a mountain), and the stories a lot easier to take it than in 2. I go into more detail in the first round match with Snake Eater. They do sorta have Raiden in Snake Eater though, as there's a russian officer who looks just like him in the game called Raidenovich Raikov. And what they do with Raiden in 4 is pretty cool.

Yeah, it's weird. Most of the russian characters in it have non-russian accents (mostly american, one english), though there is a character with a heavy russian accent. Though they do reveal at the end of the credits that Ocelot is a CIA Double Agent.
