First off I was to apoligize to Pun right off the bat. I wish I didn't have to say this but baseball needs the Cubs to stay the loveable losers. Before 2004 we had the Red Sox & the Cubs. If I could have scripted it I'd have gladly given the Cubs the title and had the Red Sox continue the banner of cursed. But what's done is done. Baseball will lose something if the Cubs break their curse. So long live the curse. Though it isn't my predicition I do have the best way for the curse to continue. We need the White Sox and the Cubs to make the World Series. In the ChiTown Battle the Cubs will have the 3-2 lead and they will inexplicable lose the final two games to lose the World Series to the hated team from cross town. Once again Pun I'm sorry for that.

Eric, the only way, as of now that CC can pitch 2 games is including game 5. If Milwaukee gets to a game 5, Philly will be in trouble. Especially if CC can get 3 or 4 Tony Luke cheesesteaks before the game.

Fun set of games on the first day. I had Milwaukee and the Over (lost) and Dodgers and the Over (Won) for a nice profit for the day.

Milwaukee, almost despite itself, nearly came back to tie the game. If nothing else they forced Lidge to throw a lot of pitches (35). Otherwise, Brewers barely looked like a playoff team.

Dodgers looked solid against Dempster. Question for Cubs fans: Why, when they had the NL Central locked up with a week to go, didn't the Cubs set their rotation so their best pitcher (Harden) could throw twice with proper rest? Am I missing something?

Red Sox got a great game out of Lester, but I think that's the best they'll do. BTW, what's up with the game-rest-game-rest-game schedule for this series? Come on, television!

Today, Sabathia is going on three days rest for the fourth time in a row. Eventually he has to crack, right? Brewers offense has to help him out a bit today. Anyone else see a bit of Colorado Rockies in the White Sox? I might play the Sox today with Vasquez against Shields. And if the Dodgers get ahead of Zambrano today, does the Big Guy implode?

AA, I think the Dempster thing was somewhat of a reward for the year Dempster had. I agree with you, but I think they wanted Harden WELL rested for the playoffs. I think they also felt they had a solid enough 1-4 that even throwing Lilly out there in the 4 spot would be able to compete.

I knew last night was going to be rough, but I thought Demp would be a lot better than 7 walks in 4 2/3. The Cubs have not hit Lowe very well in their two meetings this season, so the offense was going to have it's work cut out for them. I have faith with Z, Harden, and Lilly going in the next three, though, because the Cubs have done well against the rest of the Dodgers rotation.

I was telling Pun this last night before his head exploded... Lou's having a pretty strange playoff run with the Cubs. He took Z out too early last year and stuck with Dempster too long last night. I don't care what his Wrigley record was, when your SP walks 6 in 4+ innings, you have to yank him and bring in Marshall to face Loney.

One other thing.....

Where the fuck was the homefield advantage last night? That crowd was DEAD. I realize that the Loney grand slam sucked the life out of them, but they were practically comatose even before that. This is why it sucks that playoff tickets are so damned expensive. You get corporate types in there that could give two shits about the game. The crowd needs to be into the game tonight from the first pitch, or this is going to be a short series.
