My buddy, Jim, who I did the stand-up comedy and improv classes with has ventured into the world of comedy sketch writing. He got himself a gig writing sketches for an Improv Olympic weekly show called Big News. All of their weekly sketches are taken from news headlines. It's hit and miss, but still fun. The actors are funny, even when the sketches aren't. If anything, my boy's moving on up. Recently one of his sketches was aired on Air America.

So the cast of actors each week rotate. There's always a core group of 4 or 5, and the other 4 or 5 change every week. In the crew last night was Andrew Koenig AKA Chekov's son, AKA Boner from Growing Pains. He played the part of Howie Mandell in my buddy's sketch that lampooned Deal or No Deal by having the contestant as an Iraqi terrorist. But he played old school nutty Howie instead of the medicated Howie on the show. It was funny as hell (the sketch was ok, but Boner's Howie made that sketch).

So I met the guy afterwards. Told him I liked his Joker in that Batman short that made its rounds on the net a few years back. I resisted mentioning Boner, since I was told he doesn't like being known for only that.

So there you go. I met the quintessential 80s sitcom goofy sidekick. Just felt like sharing that. House of Stupid > Parts Unknown!

I'm sorry, the quintessential 80's sitcom sidekick is Skippy from Family Ties. I will give Boner...<Beavis> HAHA Boner <Beavis>... a glowing recommendation for top 3 though.
