Holy crap!!!
So this story starts a few weeks ago. For some reason our creditors failed to snatch our tax refund this year, so we aren't totally broke for once. So we decided we were going to do something really cool for our son Brady's 7th b-day. We were thinking of doing a birthday at Fort Snelling or the Bell Museum, but the boy's starting to really get into wrestling so we were thinking we'd maybe do up the decorations and such in a wrestling theme. WWE's kid B-Day stuff sucks ass, so my wife did a google search for "wrestling parties" and the first thing that popped up was Minnesota Birthday Parties for Boys and Girls- Wrestling Parties. Holy crap, we live in Minnesota, what the hell is this?
As it turns out, Lenny Lane of "Lenny and Lodi" fame has recently started doing kid's B-Day parties. You come to his facility and he talks to the kids and shows them some moves and they can fool around in his real, full-size pro wrestling ring.
So I called the number on the website and I got his voicemail, and I left a message about being interested but needing to work out the date that will work for our guests. I didn't hear back from him, so I sent him an e-mail. He replied about when there are openings and said I should call him to work out details. Today I decided there was enough consensus among my guests that 6/21 will work best that I should work out the exact time and stuff so I gave him a call back. This time, I didn't get his VM. This was the conversation, approximately:
"Hey, this is Lenny."
"Uh, yeah, Lenny Lane?" <- dork
"Yeah, this is Lenny Lane."
"Yeah, this is Sergei Alderman. I sent you an e-mail about my son Brady's birthday party. My guests got back to me and the 21st works best for everybody. I wanted to work out the rest of the details, early or mid-afternoon would be preferable, if possible."
"Yeah, I'm at a show right now, so I don't have all of that in front of me right now. Send me another e-mail about it, and I'll give you a call back about it tomorrow"
So, not only did I talk to former Cruiserweight champ Lenny Lane, it was on his cell phone backstage at some indy wrestling show. How cool is that?
Well, I thought it was pretty cool.
And in a month he'll be doing my kid's birthday party! Awesome!
