So, I just caught the Royal Rumble at the local Winghouse, and I've gotta say, it was a pretty entertaining Rumbler, considering the lack of usual surprises. But one surprise that the WWE was able to pull off without anyone suspecting it (for the second time!) was RVD entering the Rumble late.

There were some good power spots and some decent comedy spots (including Santino going over the top rope in 1 second, finally killing the damn debate over who held the record for the shortest Rumble entry).

The prior matches weren't bad, but there was a very Russo-rific (now apparently re-labeled as Prinze-riffic) turn by Matt Hardy on his brother Jeff, helping Edge win the World title. WTF was that?!

Overall, a decent Rumble, but the show in its entirety wasn't anything to write home about. Anyone else catch it tonight?

2 things stood out for me. I loved the Big Show's "Skin the cat" move (never saw a big man make that move) and how sloppy the women's title match was (especially since the participants are supposed to be some of the best "wrestlers" on the women's side of the rosters).

Is this really an RVD return, or is this another deal where he returns for one match then disappears? When was the last time? Some anniversary show, wasn't it?

According to a pwinsider.com report, RVD was a one night deal. He was local, and was brought in for the pop. It was reported pretty late, so hopefully plenty of people were still surprised by it.

I was at home watching the WEC broadcast on Versus. Good MMA show, despite the Russo-riffic finish to their main event.

I would have thought that as well, but I checked his bio on wiki, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Van_Dam, and as of last night, it reported that RVD signed a deal and was possibly heading to Smackdown. As I just checked it again, it was already off the bio page. Either someone planted a ruse, or it may go down. I'll go with the Ruse.
