Lauryn Hill - one of the best female rappers of all time, with a singing voice that's gorgeous to boot
Black Thought - completely underrated because he's not a solo act. The voice of The Roots. Conscious, thought provoking, intelligent, and with mad flow.
Curtis Mayfield - One of the greatest soul/R&B songwriters/performers of all time.
Vernon Reid - guitarist for Living Colour. Can play metal, rock, jazz, R&B, and avant-garde
Victor Wooten - masterful bassist, considered among the best with Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke
Sheila E. - one of the best female drummers of all time. She's got rhythm, excellent timing, and a lot of soul. Used to play for Prince. Not too bad of a solo act, either.
Jam Master Jay - THE DJ FOR RUN-DMC FOR CHRISSAKES!
