As I sat through last night's RAW with a headache coming on, I noticed when MVP sat at the announcer's desk during the triple threat match he continued to wear the US title over his shoulder. In the past, a champion would usually drap their title over the announce table, so I just found it a bit odd of MVP to still have the title on his shoulder. Which brings me to what my headached brain wondered about. Why do champions no longer wear the title belts around their waists? I think there have been some recent exceptions, ie Punk with one of his titles, possibly Jericho and Mysertio wearing around their waists. But the majority of champions; Cena, Orton, MVP, etc rock the title on the shoulder. In the words of the Hurricane, "Wassup wit dat?"

Probably started when certain Champs were to fat to actually wear them. Then as belts were used as weapons or maybe people just think they look cooler that way.

I'm not sure who did it first, Austin or The Rock, but I think both carried their titles. Rock makes sense, because of the way he displayed it when he got in the ring. Some guys still do it, I think it's a matter of preference. Obviously when Yoko held the title, he had to wear it over his shoulder.

Some of it can be for photos. Most photos there days are from the tits up, so the belt would need to be over the shoulder to be in the photo.

I think Edge wears it around his waist. Which fits his personality. Orton wears it over his shoulder, but I think he should go waist, too. MVP makes sense to have it over the shoulder, although I think he wears it around the waist when he's actually coming out to wrestle.

I guess it could also be a street clothes vs. wrestling gear thing. In street clothes, it looks stupid to wear it around your waist.

MTA: I'd like to see someone employ the boxing style of entrance and pay someone to hold the belt up behind or in front of them as they walk out.

This is an interesting question, and I wish I had something more productive to add. But I don't. At least not now. Might this go back to Hollywood Hogan playing air guitar with the Big Gold Belt?

If Hogan keeps getting raped by his ex-wife, yes, there is a strong possibility we'll see Naitch versus Hollywood Hogan for the strap.

I wonder if Ms. Elizabeth's shoe will knock out Flair again...
