so, i have an opportunity to get a storm for free. i've been considering possibly going smartphone when it came time to upgrade, and this could be a chance to do just that.

but i've heard that the storm certainly has its faults. but then again i also know that no phone is really perfect. so what it comes down to is does the bad outweigh the good?

i've got a one week window to make this decision. bring on the input.

The Storm is ok if you like the Blackberry OS and interface. Certainly not having a real keyboard can be a real issue - if - and only if you plan on using it alot. If you are going to use it to read emails and texts, and bang out quick little missives, then it's ok.

I have a buddy who had one and had nothing but problems with the screen, since it clicks up and down every time you touch it, that mechanism wore out on 2 units on him within months.

I've had blackberryies, windows mobile phones and my android, and I'd say all things being equal I like the Android the best, but I also haven't had a iPhone due to the fact that Cingular sucks balls.

I have an iPhone. I like the iPhone. The Storm is not an iPhone.

That being said...it's not a horrible device.

I like it better then the WinMo touch screens I've used from LG and HTC, and it's actually got a better build then the Android/G1/HTC thing. Plus most of the initial software issues have been resolved, though depending on the out of box build, you might have some firmware upgrades to go through.

Also, keep in mind that you can't use it to cut cheese like the Palm Pre. If this is a plus or minus really depends on you.
