So, we are considering switching from DirecTV to the new AT&T U-Verse. Does anyone on here have it and can you tell me how you like it? The idea of the whole house DVR that can record 4 shows at once is intriguing. I want to make sure they will carry the MLB Extra Innings Package, though.

As far as I'm aware, MLB Extra Innings and NFL Sunday Ticket are only for DirecTV.

As soon as it's available in my town I'll be switching, just for all the extra HD channels. My friend has it, and it works quite well. Internet is fast, and TV signal is crisp and clean.

I'm pretty sure only the NFL has an exclusive deal with DirecTV. I think most cable packages offer the MLB.

The only difference is that the last "leg" isn't fiber - it's copper. new copper, but copper none the less.

punker's right. The no MLB Network is a deal breaker. I can get the games on my computer, but I can't get MLBN. Unless they add it, or have plans to add it in the future, I won't be getting it, whole house DVR or not.

Well, Punker, can you elaborate a bit more on your thoughts? What service did you have before? Which internet option did you choose? We don't need blazing fast internet speeds, but my wife works from home twice a week, so it at least needs to be reliable.

And how much are the taxes portion of the bill?

Yeah, I can see the appeal of that MLB package. If I didn't live in a Los Angeles market, that would probably be something I would get. The MLB Network though... eh. I've seen it a few times at my buddy's house... honestly couldn't care less about it.

I had Directv for like two years before U-Verse, but I didn't really care much for it. I don't live on the east coast, so I don't really like having to watch things on east coast time. Plus, the internet I had through their partnership with... I forget who it was... wasn't nearly as fast as what I'm getting now.

I've got the bundle with the quickest internet they offer, and I like it a lot. I couldn't really tell you how any of the lower internet speeds are. I'd need to double check, but I think the subcharges and taxes portion of the bill is like nine bucks or something like that.

That's what I wanted to hear with the taxes. If that's the case, I can come in at the same price I'm paying for Comcast by going the 6mb/s internet route. I hope that would be enough for what Mrs. Gator needs work-wise.

All depends on the type of work she does from home. If she is just using Citrix / RDP to remotely get to her machine at work, then it'll be fine.

But if she's doing more, AND you guys have Vonage or some other VoIP carrier, 6 Mb/s is sorta slow.

This is exactly what she does. And our other general internet usage is her mainly on Facebook, Craigslist, or just random surfing. Not much as far as heavy downloading or streaming (although I've recently started watching UFC events on SopCast).

Will my PS3 connection be noticeably slower, at all? That's my other main concern.

So I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered the U200 package with the 6Mbps internet service. It'll come out to about exactly what I'm paying right now for Comsuck. Gonna get a nice $250 rebate, too.

The only downside is that I have to wait THREE FUCKING WEEKS for the install and activation. Ah, well.
