First I'll let you in on a little secret – the reason I don't usually post outside the OOWF is because I generally don't have anything interesting to say. For once, I do (I think):
I recently re-discovered that my favorite author, Spider Robinson, does a twice-monthly podcast. It's a mixture of some really good jazz, folk, and blues music, and readings from Spider's works and those of other sf writers.
In the past, I've evangelized the work of Spider Robinson to a few of the folks at Pun's House (the man was chosen to finish Robert A. Heinlein's last book – he must be doing something right), but who's going to buy a book by a hippie science-fiction writer on the advice of some guy on a messageboard? If you were to go to www.spiderrobinson.com and download the podcast from 7/28/08 however, you could hear Spider read “The Guy with the Eyes” - the first story he sold, and the genesis of Callahan's Place. If you are a fan of sf, good writing, and/or good music, I highly recommend checking out Spider's podcast.
