I'm shopping my team!!!
I'm sitting here trying to work out my keeper list and I have a roadblock. I have AT LEAST 10 people I like. Now, if need by I just bite the bullet. Make my picks and release the rest into the wild. But I gathered these guys so of course I'd like to get some payback on them. So I'm shopping. Specifically I'm looking to score draft picks for these guys. But straight up swaps can work if it gives me a more enticing keeper.
Want a Closer Keeper? Chris Ray and Takashi Saito. Both had GREAT seasons.
Ray: 2.73 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 33 SV, 4 W, 51 K in 66 IP!
Saito: 2.07 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 24 SV, 6 W, 7 HLD, 107 K in 78 IP!
Or a Middle Reliever? Consider this: The Save category is no more valuable than the Hold category.
Scott Shields: 2.87 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 7 W, 2 SV, 31 HLD, 40 K in 88 IP
Solomon Torres: 3.28 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 12 SV, 3 W, 20 HLD, 72 K in 93 IP
Torres also finished the season as the Pittsburgh closer in Mike Gonzalez' absence and did a tremendous job. What role will he have in '07? Saves or Holds they count the same.
How about a SS? I got Carlos Guillen, Stephen Drew, and Bobby Crosby. Guillen had a GREAT season helping in ALL categories, Drew is a stud prospect, and Crosby remains the potential he has always been. I've also got Ray Theriot of the Cubs at 2B who had a great rookie season.
Guillen: .320 AVG, .400 OBP, 100 R, 19 HR, 85 RBI, 20 SB
Thierot: .328 AVG, .412 OBP, 34 R, 3 HR, 16 RBI, 13 SB (in 469 AB)
Drew: .316 AVG, .359 OBP, 27 R, 5 HR, 23 RBI, 2 SB (in 209 AB)
A bunch of young starters! Chris Young is as close to untouchable as there is on my team but Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders, Zach Duke, Edgar Gonzalez, and Tom Gorzelanny remain.
Santana: 4.28 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 16 W, 141 K in 204 IP
Saunders: 4.71 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 7 W, 51 K in 70 IP
Gorzelanny: 3.79 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 2 W, 40 K in 61 IP
Adam Dunn! Mark Teahan! Nick Markakis! Nomar Garciaparra! Pudge Rodriguez!
Bottom line, I have a lot of guys and I'm looking to deal. If you like what you see or if you'd like to upgrade your keepers drop me a line. PM me or IM me at LuckyLopes.
FYI, I've been thinking about this and as best I figure, if we trade players for picks before Oct 31st we need to trade a pick with it. The rule was that all trades have to be even for their parts but that doesn't apply now. Technically we're only trading the rights to players until Nov 1st. So if I were to deal Teahan for a 6th round pick I'd have to send a pick back with Teahan, or else I'd have 1 pick to many and the other guy would have 1 short. So sending my 22nd or 21st would amount to the same thing as a straight up trade since I'd have to pass on that pick anyway to meet Yahoo rosters. But that can obviouslly be a negotiating point as well. Perhaps I can upgrade to a 5th round pick if I give up my 18th round pick. Or something.
