Mike's reign on the top of the hill lasts only a week as he falls to Vols hard this week and Army reclaims the top spot. Lucky also climbs back into 1st of the Cupcakes Division but locked in a tie with Mike. Only 3 Gs separate Army and the Cupcakes leaders as he's alone for the bye but still has a regular season prize on the line. So the chase for byes and regular season payoff remains hotly contested.
On the other side of things the race for the 6th playoff spot is a little less open but still alive. Solly's big win takes him up to 4th overall and 7.5 out of 1st. But Vols is closer to him than Army is at 6 Gs so his spot still isn't locked up. MKid finds himself a game and a half from Solly and Dev on either side while Dev is holding the last playoff spot. Vols has climbed right back into contention and sits 3 games out of the playoffs this week while GM's loss to Dev means he's now sitting 5.5 games out of the playoffs with 2 teams to jump. With 2 weeks and 28 Wins left this field is still very open and could look very different by the time we're done.
A 1-11-2 whipping most likely closed the door on AA's season. 16.5 Gs out of the playoffs isn't statistically impossible but with 3 teams to jump its pretty close to it. He's got Dev and GM the rest of the way so any chance he has is up to how he closes out the season. Moose and Grover do however join Pun amongst the ranks of the statistically eliminated.
Of minor trivia Grover did notch his first win against the Cupcakes Division this week as he's gone 4-2-1 over the last 7 weeks after a 1-12-1 start.
Mike's loss left him 1 week shy of the season record winning streak and with Kid and GM falling this week no one's got longer than a 2 week streak and Vols' 5 week record is safe as the best one of the 2009 season. So is Lucky's undefeated streak of 8 weeks. While SOMEONE might have called the Pun/Grover matchup this week meaningless some meaning can be taken out of it by a look at the streaks. Pun's loss gives him a 6 week losing streak, good for a new season record that won't be topped. The all time record is 8 weeks set by Mikey last season so Pun still has a shot at that questionable feat. If Pun can't notch a W or a T the rest of the season he'll match the all time worst losing streak as well as match Grover for the 2009 season winless streak.
No "meaningless" matches this week as Lucky, Mike, Dev, and GM all get the chance to get healthy. Looking ahead Lucky gets a break in the schedule the last two weeks drawing Grover first this week and Pun next. Mike has Pun and Kid while Army draws Solly and Dev. So the schedule may well make the difference as those three teams chase the top spots in the league. Army has a strong 7 game lead with the division but with his two direct competitors still getting a shot at him nothing's guaranteed. Solly gets the first shot at bringing the big man down and Dev follows next week as both have formerly held the top spot in the division. Dev's more immediate threat is GM and Vols though, as he tries to secure his playoff spot. Dev will get AA this week, GM gets Moose, but Vols draws the short stick with Kid. Kid's spot isn't much more secure than Dev's so when it comes down to it they're all fighting the same fight.
