Last Week
Going into the weekend series' across the board it was a closeup with three 6-6-2 ties, two 6-5-3 scores, and Dev holding the big lead of the week at 7-6-1 over GM. So the final 3 days of the week were sure to make or break all matchups.
Cupcakes Division[/b]
Lucky's Spreadsheet Studs continued their winning ways with an 8-5-1 victory over MKid's Dual National Champions. In the end both teams contributed pretty evenly with MKid racking up 30 Rs and 21 BI over the weekend, but a strong pitching core that took Lucky from 19 K to 55 and 2 W to 5 is what ended this week. And Mkid's ERA and WHIP climbing from 3.91/1.04 to 4.62/1.42 didn't help any.
Pun's It Byrnes When I Peavy had their first week over .500 by taking out Grover's New Day Co-Op 8-5-1. Tied going into the weekend the difference here came with the pickup of 24 RBI and 21 Rs over the weekend. Pun improved his ERA from 5.21 to 4.64 but it wasn't good enough to change the course of the pitching stats and he'd have to settle for a narrow victory.
Mikey's Blue Sox and Vols' Schwetty Vols was one of the few matchups not tied going into the weekend. In the end Mikey more or less fell backwards into the tie as increasing his ERA/WHIP from 3.50/1.08 ended up not hurting him as long as Vols went from 3.83/1.28 to 4.90/1.48. Vols ended up drawing it even by only losing 2 games over the weekend to Mike's 3, notching them at 5 for the week and finishing things in a 6-6-2 tie.
Bananas Division
Going into the weekend it looked like Beat Me Solly might finally be taken down by the 2 time champion AA's 3-Time! 3-Time! 3-Time! but the weekend would change that up. 43 Ks, 4 Ws, and a Hold for good measure ended up making the difference and notching Solly the 8-6-0 win. Solly also managed to drop his ERA/WHIP from 3.56/1.33 to a tremendous 2.81/1.27 but it was useless with AA holding steady from a 2.22/1.08 Friday score.
Moose's One Eyed Jacks and Army's Balad Shithooks went into the weekend one of many ties and neither did much to change that. 4 weekend SB for Army was impressive but ultimately meaningless with his 6 previous covering the category. Moose managed to double most of his offensive stats over the weekend but ultimately could only keep pace with Army and not catch him anywhere. The one difference maker on the week came with 2 saves for Army. That allowed him to notch the 6-6-2 tie the week would end with.
Finally, Dev's Jersey ColdFusion held the narrowest of leads at 7-6-1 over the defending champs, GM's Comerica National Park heading into the weekend. Dev added 4 Ws and lowered his ERA from an already impressive 3.18/1.16 but none of that would affect the scoreboard from Friday. Both teams added offense but in the end it was the 20 RBI GM picked up that narrowly edged out Dev and ended the week in a 7-7-0 tie.
Standings
The biggest winners of an even week were Cupcakes' Lucky and Pun both drawing 8-5-1 wins. For Pun that unfortunately meant failing to pick up any ground on the division lead but it did raise his winning PCT from .304 to .405 and bring him only a game and a half behind 4th place, a 3 game improvement from last week. Lucky however managed to increase his division lead 1.5 games over Mikey and Vols thanks to their draw in the week. Grover and MKid both fell 3 games back in the division and closer to being over taken by Pun.
Over in the Bananas' division Solly's 3rd winning week of the season was good enough to keep him on top of the division and add a game to his lead over Dev and a game and a half over Army. Moose's narrow victory did little to stop him from falling further in last place, behind by another half a game from the lead while AA's defeat dropped 2 more games behind the division lead. GM gained some ground in his overall numbers but gained none in the standings while Army fell back just a tick.
Mikey's Stats
In the vs. league average tables, 0.00 is the league average. Anything more than 1.00 either positive or negative is very strong (or weak if negative). Once you get up (or down) near 2.00 it's a number that lends itself to being a statistical anomaly and is due to come back to the pack sooner or later.
This Week
Lucky and Solly hold their division leads thanks to both winning 3 of 3 matchups this season so they hope to continue this run. In order to do that both teams will have to hold off their 2nd place teams as they try to change the division leads for the first time this season. For Lucky that means Mikey, who has yet to take a losing week on the season and for Solly that means fellow Mets fan Dev who has made a strong charge over the last 2 weeks.
Moose has a chance to climb out of the basement as he faces off against AA a game and a half behind him. Moose notched his first victory last week so a change in the standings could be the momentum he's looking for to avoid digging a hole. Meanwhile AA would like to end a 2 week skid and get back into the winning ways if he hopes to become the 3-Time! 3-Time! 3-Time! champion. On the other side Pun will also be looking to follow up on his first winning week of the season and make up ground against Vols, who has managed to stay firmly in the middle of the pack thanks to 2 ties and 1 victory on the season.
Army's also managed to stay in the middle of the pack thanks to 2 straight ties but he'll hope to get back in the winning ways against GM who managed to notch only his first victory of the season last week as he tries to climb up above .500. To round things off for the Cupcakes Grover will attempt to end a 3 week losing streak to start the season facing off against fellow Yankee fan MKid, who is also looking for his first winning weak of the season. Two struggling teams looking to change that against each other and get up over .500 before this season gets too deep.
