Last Week
A former league leader falls further back into the hole while a new contender steps up into 2nd place in his division. Week 6 saw a round of Week 2 rematches and our first bounce into 2nd chances this season.
Cupcakes Division
Grover's New Day Co-Op comes into Week 6 on a 5 week losing streak to start the season and hoping to avenge one of those losses to Lucky's Spreadsheet Studs and turn his season around. Going into the weekend Lucky held a narrow 7-6-1 lead but Grover seemed in solid position to turn around his season. Grover managed to add 7 HRs, 6 SBs, and drop his ERA nearly 2 full runs over the weekend. But Lucky managed to hold on well enough by dropping his ERA a R and staying just ahead of Grover's HR total. In the end the SB were the only true change in the score but it was enough to end Grover's losing streak and result in a 7-7-0 tie.
Mikey's Blue Sox takes the only undefeated record left in the league into Week 6 looking to knock off Pun's It Byrne's When I Peavy for the second time. Pun held a narrow 6-4-4 lead on the weekend in a close contest across the board. Mike added a tremendous 7 SB and 26 Ks and managed to grab the SV category with only 1 more. But 3 Ls and 30 offensive Ks helped Pun along. In the end it was 1 step forward and 2 steps back as Pun narrowly ended Mike's undefeated run and avenged his Week 2 loss with a 7-6-1 victory.
MKid's Dual National Champions and Vols' Schwetty Vols drew an even 7-7-0 tie in week 2 and going into the weekend they looked primed to repeat the score. Impressive showings from the offensive side continued as MKid managed to draw the HR category even with 7 over the weekend and held off an impressive 7 SB performance with 12 of his own. Neither side's pitching did much this week and Vols managed to nab the WHIP column with a 1.56 WHIP and another score with 5 Ls to Kid's 6. But the big difference makers where Kid managing to turn around the AVG, OPS, and R categories over the weekend and along with the HR tie this made the difference and gave Kid a substantial 9-4-1 victory on the week for his 3rd W in a row.
Bananas Division
AA's 3-Time! 3-Time! 3-Time! entered the week with a distressing 4 week losing streak against the division leader Dev's Jersey ColdFusion. The score was tied going into the weekend and Dev struggled to make up ground offensively losing the AVG category when his dropped 50 points while AA's 7 SB on the week proved useless against Dev's 10 total. 2 Ls on the weekend gave that category to AA but 1 W nabbed the opposite category for Dev. In the end AA loses another heartbreaker and Dev comes away with the 7-6-1 victory.
Beat Me Solly comes into this week on a 2 week losing streak and quickly falling out of contention after leading the league in the early weeks. His opponent, Army's Balad Shithooks, has made a steady charge up the rankings and drew even with Solly for 2nd place last week. Unfortunately for Solly momentum remained going into the weekend as Army held a 9-5-0 lead. Both teams had great offensive weeks going into the weekend but Solly's 1.025 OPS would drop down to .796 over the weekend and on the pitching side Army would pile it on by dropping his ERA more than a run down to 2.85. In the end Solly would take his 4th loss in a row and a substantial one in the standings with Army winning 10-4-0.
The final matchup of the week saw two teams fighting to climb up above .500 in the Bananas division in GM's Comerica National Park and Moose's OneEyed Jacks. Having won 2 in a row and not losing since W1 GM continued his momentum into the weekend with a huge 12-2-0 lead. Offensive struggles continued for Moose through the weekend despite 6 extra HRs but he did manage to snag the RBI category from GM by racking up 21 over the weekend. But GM balanced it off on the pitching side by grabbing his 2nd HLD of the week and tying that category up. In the end Moose only managed to save himself half a game as GM takes the win 11-2-1.
Standings
The biggest change this week comes in the Bananas Division. Army's big win over Solly not only broke the 2nd place tie and brought him within 2.5 of Dev for 1st... but also managed to drive Solly 8.5 back and below .500 for the first time this season. GM's big win over Moose pushed him over .500 for the first time this year and past Solly for 3rd place, only 1 G behind Army. Moose falls back into last place in the division and league while AA gains only a superficial improvement in the standings.
On the Cupcakes side of things Pun's victory over Mikey allows Lucky to improve his lead on 1st despite the tie this week and allows MKid to draw even for 2nd place, 5 Gs behind Lucky. Vols' loss sends him a full 16 Gs behind 1st while and quite a bit below .500. In the bottom of the division Grover's T and Pun's W improve both of their records but don't change much in the standings as they both end up in a 3 way tie for the bottom of the league with Moose and 18.5 Gs behind 1st.

This Week
Week 7 sees another round of rematches and is the last week of division play before Interleague Play begins next week! On the Cupcakes side of things Mikey handed Lucky his only loss of the season back in Week 4 and he'd like to make it 2 in a row and continue his charge for 1st. The other guy sharing 2nd place with Mikey is MKid and he's got a 3 Week winning streak against Grover who finally snapped his losing streak last week and would like to get his first W of the season. Vols beat Pun back in Week 4 and would like to do it again to get back above .500 and in contention in the division, while Pun would just like to pull out of the gutter.
Over in the Bananas division the two charging teams in Army and GM will face off as both teams are on winning streaks as the 1 pt win GM got over Army in W4 actually represents the difference in the standings between them. Dev's big win over Solly in W4 propelled Dev into 1st and started Solly's drop down the rankings. So Solly is hoping to end his slide and make up some ground while Dev would like to fend off the charging masses. Down in the bottom of the division Moose would like to get out of the basement of the league while AA would just like to end a 5 week losing streak that matches Grover's just ended streak for the worst of the season.
