At my softball game last night we are shorthanded, because 4 of my regulars are gone on vacation. This forced me back to 2B, a position I haven't played in years.....literally. I normally play catcher or ride the bench as an extra hitter. And I have no problem with that, because most of the guys I have are much better fielders than I am, as I'm about to illustrate.
Second inning, left handed batter comes up and hits a bullet right at me. It was hit so hard that I only had time to go down on my left knee, but I didn't get my glove down in time. The ball caught me square on the ankle, and I ended up with this:
The good news is I did stop the ball with my ankle and was able to make the play.
Damn, I hope my regular players are back next week.
