I'm pretty sure I registered my major issues with The Rejects in the Pimp Your Team thread, but in the end? I'm just not a 12-year-old kid anymore who digs the gory and ultra-violent heroes with no real further subtext. I'll take a good story and engaging characters over demons and violence 9 times out of 10.

EDIT: I still have a MAJOR problem with the construction of Dark Guard, but they get canceled out by Devil's Rejects here. Next round that problem might pop up.

I like Deadpool and Iron Fist enough at the moment to make up for a team concept I don't really like. And I just don't know anyone from the reject team. I also wish Bucky Cap had a little better team, but it's good enough.

Yeah, Bucky's going to be revealed to be wasted in a round or two. I barely even notice him in that team.

Dark Guard (Comedian's an issue, but I figure he fits as "an asshole, but good to have in a fight"), and Brain Trust, even though I think a team of geniuses are a bit redundant, like the villain team that was all masterminds who'd realistically implode within a week. I don't see what Bucky needs to be on Redemption for, and other than Penance, I don't know who the other guys are.

I don't have a problem with Brain Trust like I did Masterminds. The heroic natures basically help these guys work together and they're all team guys anyway who have worked together effectively in the past. This is a bunch of scientists getting together to do research and probably make the greatest advancements in history. The problem is that's derivative and kind of boring. Its the reason most teams tend to have 1 "big brain", 1 "tank", 1 "heart", 1 "wise ass", etc. That seems to be the thing missing in so many of these teams. Balance. People put together single minded teams either because it fits a theme or because its an archetype they personally enjoy, but then you end up with these all or nothing teams. That's why I suggested way back when we started this doing "positions" you were required to fill, because I thought it would lead to more balanced teams and less gimmicky ones that struck out.

BUT Big Brains still works because despite all being very similar geniuses you have 4 unique super heroes. Make them all of average intelligence and Beast, Pym, Richards, and Iron Man are still an effective field team with a variety of powers and skills. I imagine this team naturally deferring to Richards as the field leader and Iron Man as the guy who keeps everyone paid and organized, and that's something villains wouldn't do. And unlike a team of 5 non-powered detectives or something these guys should be able to mix it up in a fight or on a mission.


My problem with the Comedian isn't that he's an "asshole." Its that he's an irredeemable murderer and rapist who has no place on any hero team. I'm even debating changing my vote because he's just a vile piece of shit who tears that team apart, IMO. But the way the voting is going it doesn't matter.

I was gonna respond to you, Stu, but Lucky already hit the nail on the head, for me. Even if you take away the genius factor on these guys, I think they're still a very well-balanced unit with everybody bringing compatible skills to the table. This is a team I didn't actually start off with having that "theme" in mind... it just fell together nicely.

All that being said, I'd actually enjoy seeing a fight between The Brain Trust and The Dark Guard.

Bucky carries massive guilt over the time he spent as the Winter Soldier, and his primary drive for being a hero is to try to make up for the crimes he committed during that time.

Justice was an original New Warrior who lost control of his powers and killed his abusive father, took full responsibility for his actions and did jail time, and emerged a much more mature, responsible hero.

Weapon Omega is a mutant who can sap other mutants' powers. He was taken over by The Collective (the collected forces of 50 different de-powered mutants) and massacred the original Alpha Flight (except Sasquatch). Once he was under control, he decided to help the government, who used him (without his knowledge) to de-power captured criminal mutants. He wants to make amends.

Drax has a long and sordid history. Here's his Wiki. The short version is that he was created to destroy Thanos, lost his shit when he found out he was ultimately going to fail, then went on an intergalactic killing spree and fighting the likes of Captain Mar-Vell and Thor. He died and was reborn and is now a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy who has full recollection of his past actions and wants to atone for them by doing good.

I actually have/had that issue, I think. His dad was beating him really severely, and he eventually just couldn't take it any more and blasted him, making his dad's bones I think "80% dust", right?

The only team I really like in this grouping is The Brain Trust. Dark Guard is getting a vote from me (at least in this round) because of Deadpool.
