I recently found out about this software only because CNet did an article about Google buying them. I've been playing around with it for a few days now. It's a desktop replacement that turns your desktop into a 3D "world".

And if you ever watch NCIS Los Angeles, the large screen they use in their meeting room uses software similar to this. The video shows what you can do with it, if your monitor has touchscreen capabilities.



From what I've read, Google is going to incorporate this into their new generation of Android phone. I hope they keep supporting the desktop version, too, because I really like it.

That's pretty fucking cool. Is it something that works "on top of" another OS, or is it a complete alternative to Windows or Mac OS?

It works on top of Windows or Mac. You can turn it on and off at will. When you turn it off, you go right back to your old desktop. You can also have it start when Windows starts, or you can start it manually. It does make the boot up process a little slow, but everything else runs just like normal.

That video makes me want to buy a touch screen capable monitor.
