New York, NY (Sports Network) - Former All-Star right-hander Jose Lima passed away Sunday at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 37.
ESPNdeportes.com is reporting that Lima's wife, Dorca Astacio, said he died of a massive heart attack.
Lima broke into the big leagues in 1994 with Detroit and spent his first three seasons there before heading to Houston in 1997.
It was with the Astros that he had his greatest success as he posted a record of 46-42, and in 1999 he went to the All-Star game as he finished that season with a career-high 21 wins and a 3.58 earned run average.
Over his 13 seasons in the majors, he posted a mark of 89-102 with a 5.26 ERA over 348 games, including 235 starts. He also played for the Royals, Dodgers and Mets.
Wow. 37 is young for a massive heart attack. Steroids?

he could still be the #2 starter for the Mets
The Phillies are everything I hoped the Mets would be - a team that plays their fucking asses off for all 27 outs. They're never out of a game. Solly 10/20/09
