(Cut to the front of a press conference where a few sports reporters, looking bored, wait for the next WrestleFest announcement to come out.
A muscular but smallish man comes up to the podium. He is dressed in a suit and sunglasses, removing the glasses as he approaches the podium. A couple of the reporters seem to recognize him and begin taking pictures, though most are indifferent.)
JM: Greetings. For those assembled here tonight, my name is Junichiro Muyo. I expect that many of you will not know who I am...I lack the stature of a Dana White, certainly.
I was a professional wrestler in Japan for many years. Any and all wealth I have is through intelligent investment from that time period. My most intelligent investment--in terms of profitability--was in fact one very much like this one: a wrestling company. However, while the company became economically successful, I became more and more horrified by what it became over time, the way it fell into all the little traps of the wrestling industry. While I still strive to save that company, I have become more convinced that changing this industry for the better will require a rebirth of sorts...a company that from the beginning is designed to serve as an example, as a city on a hill.
The first draft pick for the new Onslaught Championship Wrestling (buzzing by reporters), therefore, is a man who I know shares that vision. He is not a saint--thankfully, for saints can do nothing but let us down when they fall. No, he is a man who fell to the lowest depths and picked himself back up--a man who is saved not because he is sheltered, but because he understands the depravity of this industry all too well.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...Shawn Michaels!
("Sexy Boy" plays as Shawn Michaels comes out very seriously, dressed in full suit. He shakes Muyo's hand and takes the microphone.)
HBK: Thank you for your introduction, Juni. Folks, it feels good to be here with all of you tonight. The annual Draft is always a spectacular chance to revitalize this industry--and I'm not saying that just because my team won last year. I believe we got the final duke over some friends of yours, am I right?
JM: (smiling) ...Associates in this business, yes.
HBK: In all seriousness though, the vision Juni is putting out there this year...it's one that should be taken very seriously. Sadly, while a lot of things have changed in this business, It is still capable of ruining lives and destroying families. Even where backstage intimidation and violence is minimal, where the ring is respected as a place of honor, too many temptations linger--steroids, infidelity, painkiller abuse, and above all, a quiet voice telling wrestlers that so long as they have 50,000 fans chanting their name, they may act as a god above reproach. Today, Juni stands before you to say we can't just tell the wrestling industry what is wrong; we need to change the culture by giving an example of what could be.
However, (turning to Muyo), there was one fatal flaw in your introduction. You say I picked myself up, and that's not true at all. See, it's important to note how I was saved. I was saved by One far greater than I am. I've watched you, Juni, and I've seen you do this song and dance before. You seem to believe that there is no savior greater than yourself. Let me make one thing clear right now--the Heartbreak Kid bows to no man, except the One above.
(Junichiro looks at HBK, and quietly takes the microphone.)
JM: I understand that, Shawn. And to be frank...there is an extent to which I trust you more than me in this venture. As such...(Juni reaches into his wallet, takes out a small card and hands it to Shawn.)...the next draft pick will be yours. That is my personal list, but do with it what you will.
(Juni walks off the podium, leaving Michaels clearly surprised.)
HBK: Well, all right then...(Michaels studies the card.)...folks, I'm going to place a couple calls, then meet you all right back here.
FADE
<Note--to clarify, respecting the "Randy The Ram" Rule, Juni will not be a part of the company's cards.>
