Goldberg and the Ultimate Warrior will be my entrants into the battle royal.

Saturday night, July 17 at The Omni in Atlanta, GA!!

After Goldberg and Sid failed to bring home the crown in the Super P Cup Heavyweight Battle Royale, Ravishing Rick Rude presented their failures as evidence as to why he should be named the FTBNL World Champion. Goldberg begged to differ. They settle this matter on Saturday.

FTBNL Championship:
Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Goldberg

An accidental miscommunication cost Sting and Lex Luger their shot at the Super P Cup Tag Team Titles. Lex vows to make up for the mistake when they take on Jim Cornette's Midnight Express for their FTBNL Tag Team Championship!

FBTNL Tag Team Championship:
The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette and Big Bubba Rogers) vs. Sting & Lex Luger

Sid did a run-in at the Super P Cup Battle Royale, inexplicably taking out the Ultimate Warrior. Sid later said it was because there was only one man in the FTBNL that was absolutely batshit insane, and that it was him, and that there was no room for wannabes like the Warrior. Fisticuffs ensued. They will resume this Saturday.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Disco Inferno
* Good opener for the fans, as Disco's cheap heel heat and Duggan's charisma get the fans going off top. Standard, by the books, match with Duggan getting the duke. WINNER: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN (7:30) Football tackle -> Oklahoma Slam

The Original Midnight Express (w/ "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert) vs. The Mulkey Boys
* How do you like your squash? Hopefully, quick and to the point. Rose and Condrey pound the Mulkeys into oblivion, while Gilbert joins Whalen and Madden on commentary, making their intentions quite clear in the process. They want the tag team titles. WINNERS: THE ORIGINAL MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (1:12) Rocket Launcher


Demolition vs. The Fabulous Freebirds
* The Birds come out to a crazy hometown pop, thus making the Demos the defacto heels, which cranks this match up an extra notch, as Ax and Smash have no problem whatsoever playing the bad guys. Very good back and forth match, and the roof comes off the place as Hayes gets the hot tag to Garvin. Scrum sees Hayes and Ax brawl to the floor, and Garvin hits Smash with a brainbuster. He looks to finish with the DDT, but a war-painted Kevin Sullivan comes out of the crowd and decks Garvin with an unknown object. Smash drapes an arm over and gets the very unpopular three count. WINNERS: DEMOLITION (14:33) Sullivan run-in -> foreign object


David Von Erich vs. The Gambler
* Time for more squash, as the fans need a pick me up after the last match. Von Erich obliges, taking out jobber extraordinaire The Gambler in quick fashion. After the match, David checks in with Sean Mooney and says he's coming after the FTBNL Title. WINNER: DAVID VON ERICH (2:19) Iron Claw


The Wormhole with Dennis Rodman
* After cracking some jokes about his original guest, Lawrence Taylor, being unable to make it due to legal trouble, Rodman (w/bodyguard Zeus) brings out the FTBNL Tag Team Champs, The Midnight Express, their manager, Jim Cornette, and their bodyguard, Big Bubba Rogers. Cornette rants about nothing without coming up for air for about two minutes straight. Cornette guarantees victory tonight against Sting and Lex Luger, drawing out the challengers for a rebuttal. This naturally turns into a pier sixer, with Rodman running for cover and Zeus trying to hold ground. Cornette snaps at Bubba after Sting is able to get a haymaker in on him, and the segment culminates in Luger racking Zeus. Perhaps some foreshadowing for later tonight...?

Bob & Brad Armstrong vs. Kronik
* The Armstrongs are crazy over here in the Deep South, as well. Good, big team/little team formula here, with the good guys working their asses off to carry Adams and Clark. Finish sees Brad escape High Times with an assist from Bob and Brad gets a rollup for the upset win! WINNERS: THE ARMSTRONGS (8:57) sunset flip

"The Z-Man" Tom Zenk vs. Buff Bagwell (w/ Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert)
* Glibert stops the ref from starting the match and cuts a promo, offering Zenk a spot in Hot Stuff Inc. The Z-Man refuses, and Bagwell jumps him. Finish comes as Bagwell attempts to clock Zenk with a roll of quarters, but Zenk knocks them away. Bagwell begs off, and Gilbert tosses a chain to Zenk and yells at him to use it. Confused, Zenk throws the chain back at Gilbert, and the distraction allows Bagwell to catch Zenk with the Hot Shot to get the win. WINNER: BUFF BAGWELL (10:11) Hot Shot

Last Man Standing:
The Ultimate Warrior vs. Sid
* This should be a slobberknocker. They brawl all over the place and both guys get bloody, even as they no-sell each other's stuff, with Sid targeting Warrior's left arm. Warrior answers the count at 9 after the powerbomb and gets his second wind. He beats the hell out of Sid, but as he goes for the gorilla press slam, his shoulder gives out, and Sid crashes down on top of him awkwardly in a heap. Neither guy can answer the count and we have a draw as both guys are up at 10 and a half ready to fight some more. But rules are rules. Crowd doesn't like that finish. DRAW (15:00)

FBTNL Tag Team Championship:
The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette and Big Bubba Rogers) vs. Sting & Lex Luger
* To say the crowd is hot for this one is an understatement. The Midnights try every trick in the book to win the match, but repeatedly come up short. Double teaming, tiny cheating, blatant cheating, help from Bubba, etc. Ref gets bumped halfway thru the match and Bubba jumps Sting on the floor. Cornette winds up, but Sting moves and Cornette blasts Bubba with the tennis racket by mistake!! Cornette gets decked again for his troubles. Eaton and Lane isolate Sting and beat the ever loving crap out of him for upward of 10 minutes, as Sting knows just when to make his mini-comebacks and false hot tags, stirring the crowd into a frenzy by the time he manages to block the double flapjack with the hot tag to Lex. It's bonzo gonzo at the Omni! Powerslam for Lane and Bobby pulls the ref out of the ring. Cornette hits the ref from behind intentionally and whacks Luger. A chair gets introduced and Cornette demands Bubba use it on Luger. Bubba refuses, shoves it in Cornette's chest and walks out, giving the finger to all three. Eaton grabs the chair, but turns around and gets it dropkicked into his face by Sting! Luger grabs Eaton for the torture rack, but Eaton's leg catches Sting on the way around, knocking Sting back into Lane who rolls him up for the three count!! Screams of disbelief from the crowd!! Luger thinks Eaton's submitted and that they've won the titles, but referee Tommy Young explains otherwise. Lex can't believe it, Sting's in shock, and Eaton, Lane, and Cornette scurry away like cockroaches, desperately clutching their titles. WINNERS: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (28:45) schoolboy rollup

FTBNL Championship:
Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Goldberg
* For the vacant title. Goldberg runs through Rude until Rude cheats to gain the advantage. Goldberg rallies and fights him off. Spear, and after years of no-selling shots to the abs, Rude is down and down hard! Jackhammer, but Rude goes to the eyes. Rude Awakening is blocked and Rude is dumped to the floor. Rude crawls to grab the title belt, but Goldberg pulls him back by the tights. Rude's got the belt, but Goldberg knocks it away and into the ring. Back in, another spear is dodged and the ref gets blasted, and Rude drills Goldberg with the belt!! No ref though. Rude is hot, goes to the floor and yells at Ed Whalen to get someone out to count the pin. Back in, and another attempt at the Rude Awakening is blocked and Goldberg takes off Rude's head with a short clothesline. Spear, jackhammer, and as Tommy Young gets to the ring, the bell sounds?? The other ref saw Rude hit Goldberg with the belt and has called for the bell! Since a champion cannot be awarded the title by DQ or countout, Goldberg does not win the title - the title is still vacant. WINNER: GOLDBERG (11:21) Disqualification
