If he can keep his car in that pristine of condition (and arrange the plot to have the Asian gangsters all apprehended), then I'm fairly certain he's got more than adequate faculties to pull a plug.

Rimmer got an upgrade though to a "Hard Light" hologram system, which not only allowed him to touch things, but also made his body impervious to a lot of conventional weapons (at once point, he jumped on a grenade without it damaging him).
