Heath is a great Luke in my opinion.

Robert would make for an interesting Solo. Not in my favorites but certainly interesting.

Rachel for Lea, why not!

Duncan for Vader's Voice, I can see (hear) that.

Now this is where it hurts. Liam would make a great Obi-Wan, exept he already did as Qui-Gon.

Same comment for Lee....

Sam Jackson, you already know what I think.

The rest is very solid, although I'm not sure I see Rene Russo as aunt Beru

Neeson was the only good thing to come out of those movies. I was actually thinking of him more in his role as Ra's Al Ghul than Qui-Gon Jinn.

And I had forgotten that Lee was Dooku (until I did an image search for him). For him, I was thinking of Saruman from Lord of the Rings.

I love their acting, but I can't buy Ledger and Weisz as being the same age.

That's kinda the reason I asked the question up front if we were casting for people as they are now, or if it's all-time. Sure, you could say "Ledger and Weisz when they were both 22", but it still doesn't feel that way based on our current impressions of them.

I think we'd have a bit of a problem casting Heath as he is now.

Again, my point also made. It'd be like drafting Ronald Reagan as Han Solo because you liked how he was when he was an old western actor. Peoples' impressions are still very different of him, though. (That, and he's also now pining for the fjords.)

There's less than 10 years' difference between them, Weisz can play younger than her age, and the Trilogy said nothing about them being the same age.

Yeah, but even so, we were presented with canon that they're not just siblings, but actually twins. Even if those prequels aren't being gauged here. That fact certainly played into my casting for Luke & Leia.

Judge it as you see fit. I'm basing my impressions on the Trilogy only, because I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the later movies.

But with the "any era" thing I was taking it that you could cast people at the same age even if they aren't so in real life.

Wow. Really? I was positive the word "twin" was never used. There goes that defense.

But with the "any era" thing I was taking it that you could cast people at the same age even if they aren't so in real life.

You absolutely can cast anyone at any age, but it's how people perceive them that will matter in the end. I could cast Mel Gibson circa Lethal Weapon 2, but if you can't get past Mel Gibson circa batshit insane, I lose your vote.
