I love clearout bargain centres. Snagged a Sanyo DVD recorder for 77 bucks Canadian.

The timer is a pain in the ass, as it does not have a "recurring" option. 15 events is about a months worth of recording.

You should have went with the Lite-On one you mentioned elsewhere. And really, for SD or analog TV, DVD recorders are great. Although I'm hoping that with all the IPTV boxes coming out, somebody will make an MediaStreaming/IPTV/HDD/DVD-recorder all in one.

And sure, a Media Center/Myth TV/Whatever PC will do all that...but they are big clucnky, and look like shit on a SD CRT TV.

This one was a "spur of the moment" purchase. I was in Xcess Cargo, and there it was so I said "I'm buying that". Then I bought it. It's good enough for what it does.

When the price comes down for the Star Choice HiDef-DVR, I'll be buying that. It ain't worth 600 bucks before programming credits.
