All right, I left last week's balloting open thinking there might be people who only visit the boards during weekdays, and I should give those people the opportunity to vote for one weekday with the boards up. Well, no such luck. If anyone is looking at this board and wants to vote, I'll be keeping it open till an hour before Raw. Don't forget that LAST week's Impact! and SD! and PPV are in the eligibility period, not this week's.
New ballots or not, I'll post the results before Raw starts tonight, either in this thread, or (if the boards are back up) in the normal thread. The race for #1 is very close between Edge and DX.

AA's Top 6 for LAST week:
1) Trish Stratus 2) Booker T 3) Johnny Nitro 4) Edge 5) Ken Kennedy 6) Joey Styles (for getting to break out the old "Catfight! Catfight!"
Welcome to the hOOme Away from hOOme, Serg.
Sting is the dumbest man in wrestling. That's a well established fact. I'd personally find it offensive and out of character if Sting didn't volunteer to do the stupid thing. --Lucky Lopez
Sure, why not? I always copy and paste the rules from the previous week's thread, so I don't have a copy. But I'm pretty sure I know them by heart at this point, and it wouldn't hurt to rephrase everything--make it a little less rote.
- Tuesday of each week, I post a voting thread.
- Your reply to this thread should include six wrestling talents--your personal favorites ranked based on what they did during the eligibility period.
- With each of your top six you should say a few words about why you chose them. (This means you, AA! Thanks for the welcome though....) Any reason is fine, we just want to hear what it is for the sake of sparking conversations. Talking about people's picks and reasoning is encouraged, blasting them is discouraged. The only time I would question someone's justifications is if a ranking was based on something that didn't actually happen in the eligibility period.
- The eligibility period is the week running from Wednesday through the Tuesday that I post the voting thread. So the one that's going to close tonight includes the most recent episodes of Raw and ECW, the Raw PPV, the Danielson v KENTA ROH show, and last week's SD! and Impact!
- A "talent" can mean a lot of things--a wrestler, a tag team, a faction, an announcer, a referee, even a whole crowd.
- One thing that it can't mean is all of the participants in a particular match. You can rank them all, but you can't use one slot for more than one person unless they are allied in some way at some point during the eligibility period.
- More than one talent can be tied for a rank, but you would still use up the same number of slots. For example, if you ranked three talents in 2nd place, you would skip 3rd and 4th and rank the next talent 5th, so you would still be ranking a total of six talents.
- The exception to this would be a tie for 6th place, which is a neat way to shoe-horn a seventh talent in if your having a tough time narrowing it down. No three-way ties for 6th, though!
- I normally close balloting sometime Friday, but I grant extensions if folks let me know they need them, or if there are board problems like this week. Then I try to get results outby the end of the day Friday. This week, I'll be closing balloting in about three hours so I can get the results out before Raw starts.
- To come up with the 12Pack, I take all of the ballots and award talents six points for each 1st place vote, five for each 2nd place vote, etc. Then I add up the totals and rank them. I also track the points based on brand, and keep track of the cumulative totals and the five-week running totals.
OK Balloting is closed, will post results in a bit.
Last Edit: Sept 25, 2006 19:10:36 GMT -5 by Batman
- The Kings of Wrestling and Naiomichi Farafuji were ranked in their first week receiving votes. - Danielson, Trish, and Cena had exceptionally strong weeks.
- After falling off of the Cumulative 12 Pack for one week DX is back. Daniels & Styles fell off. - Trish/Carlito gained the most from 9th last week to 5th this week.

OK, I think everyone knows the rules by now. If not it's the same as here, except that its a week later. The eligibility period starts with the most recent Impact (the one where Joe bled) (unless something happened in the wrestling world Wednesday night I don't know about), includes the TNA PPV, and ends with ECW tonight. We'll try to close up by Friday this time.
And don't forget, just because blasting other voters' choices is discouraged, I encourage folks to discuss them. Thanks!!

I think the members of the IWC who have already announced Kurt dead are getting really too carried away. 2. Samoa Joe - Went over the world champion and screwed me in the PPV picks but all's forgoven now I have Kurt vs. Joe to look forward to. 3. Daniels and Styles - Won the titles in what could be the MOTY. 4. LAX - Lost the titles in what could be the MOTY. 5. Hooliganz - Smackdown's tag champs continue to build a fanbase and breathe life into the division. 6. Super Crazy - Still enjoying a decent push on RAW.

posted on 9-27-2006 at 10:08 AM Edit Post Reply With Quote Report Post to Administrator TNA WEEK! Really, HEAVY TNA week. What can I say? PPV. Its really just 2 matches.
6) Jeff Jarrett - Hey, I don't like the guy much more than most people do but he's not inept. He put Joe over and I love the way he worked that match. Just that fun old school heel stuff. Him trying to convince the fans to whip Joe and getting pissed that they didn't was awesome. He took an absolute beating from them too. Hey, he's a controlling, egotistical bastard who buries young stars and hurts his product. But it all worked that night.
Folks around the web are bitching that he didn't sell Joe's offense enough and he "pushed" him too much, but fuck that. I'm convinced of two things. One, there is a strong core of fans who wouldn't piss on Jarrett if he was on fire and wouldn't commend him if he saved a baby from a burning building. So as far as they're concerned he should have rolled over and died vs Joe. Two, folks see to want Joe to keep squashing and dominating everyone in TNA when I think he did it too long already. Joe's special and he's the future of the company but you can't bury the fucking roster to get him up there. Joe has to be pushed and come close to losing. Then, when he keeps winning its special. And when he DOES lose its special. Its not just the first guy who had a chance. They fucked up his X Division run horribly like that and they had to screwjob the title off of him. Don't fuck it up for teh World Title.
5) Kurt Angle - For working the fucking internet. When was the last time something like that happened? Where we had NO idea it was happening? And when TNA hypes an "industry changing" announcement weeks after Angle is cut loose how well do they have to keep that secret for us NOT to expect it to be Angle? Hell, forget them keeping the secret (even though that's pretty fucking impossible in wrestling). They managed to convince us that it wasn't even worth speculating about! Crap. You may be a suicidal, crazy bastard who's going to kill yourself but you just pulled off a damn miracle.
4) Samoa Joe - Good match and win. I'm still down on the way this is all going but Joe taking the title gives me some of that renewed hope back. Clearly we're getting Joe's championship match soon. And I don't get the criticism that I've seen that Jarrett made Joe look bad. It didn't seem that way to me, so whatever. Good job Joe.
3) King Booker and his Court - They just rule all.
T-1) LAX and AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels - So midway through the match I knew both were making my list, and probably the top 2 slots. Hell, I had them penciled into the 6 on pure principle before I saw the match. But LAX is LAX so I figured they had the top spot win, lose, or draw. Then a Styles Clash through the table, a title victory, and that insane fucking leap from Daniels to center of the X just forced my hand. I was going to slot the champs at 1 but then I figured, why bother? Tie it and let them both split 11 points (that's how it works, right?). Hopefully they'll both get a good enough showing to rank high. Crap that match was good.
Honorable Mentions: Bob Holly's back; Christian Cage; Edge for being Edge; Eric Young for being Eric Young; once again, the whole of the Smackdown roster because each week I thoroughly enjoy the show but have a hard time singling out 1 or 2 workers as doing standout jobs.
I haven't checked to see if there's a ROH Recap up so I MIGHT be back to amend things. But I doubt it. View User's Profile E-Mail User View All Posts By User U2U Member LuckyLopez 's Aim folby 16-Time Champ

6. The Raw "Dark Match" Unexpected, unexplained on-air, but fun to watch WWE scramble. I watched Lawler's interview about the incident, and apparently he doesn't remember "In your House: beware of Dog....." (or was he there?)
5. King Booker and the Court We got to see a lot of them this week and they're starting to grow on me. Booker is hilarious in his attempted British accent, and as mentioned in the SD thread, it's even funnier when he goes from "Kingh Bookah" to "Aw, HELL no.." in less than a second. Regal and Finlay are also showing unity again.
4. Bob Holly I heard those chants for him, they sounded like..... acceptance. 24 stitches, and welcome to ECW, Sparky.
3. Edge Shootastic promo on Monday, even incorporating the "technical difficulties" into his mic-sparring with Cena.
2. DX This is probably bias, but between their goofy shilling backstage and their devious (and slightly heelish) work in and out of the gauntlet match, I was entertained.
1. Kurt Angle It's real, it's damn real. It just hasn't sunk in completely for me yet.

posted on 9-28-2006 at 12:33 PM Edit Post Reply With Quote Report Post to Administrator My Top 6 for this week. As I started eliminating picks, I realized I came down to a Top 6 that did not include a single WWE pick. Oddly, it involved just three matches. I’m hoping that means the quality in TNA and ECW is going up.
1) AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels: OK, I’m a mark for tag team wrestling. I grew up on 1980s NWA. So shoot me. Styles and Daniels just kicks 27 kinds of ass, including about three new kinds at the PPV. Daniels’ flying leap to the tag belts was the perfect ending to a great match.
2) Samoa Joe: Pinned the TNA champ Jeff Jarrett is an oddly disappointing “Fans’ Revenge” match. But pinning the champ is pinning the champ. Now I hope a title shot comes from it.
3) Hardcore Holly: If blade jobs are rated on a Muta Level, hardway gashes should be rated on the Sabu Level. And Holly offered up a gruesome 24-stitch rip job across his back after the inside out table suplex on RVD. Ewww!!!!!!! At least a 0.7 on the Sabu scale. I know the guy has an attitude outside the ring, but I loved what he did this week against RVD.
4) Rob Van Dam: You mean Hardcore Holly didn’t win the match? Well, then we have to put RVD in here somewhere. RVD pulled off some amazing moves, and used some solid psychology (the interrupted RVD thumb points, for example) that made the match above average.
5) LAX: They may have lost the titles, but I have a feeling that was done only so The Naturals can turn heel during their title shot. LAX will be back in the title picture soon enough, as the Styles/Daniels vs. LAX feud is too good to put on the backburner.
6) CM Punk: I just love his promos! And when Mike Knox got in his face, Punk’s retort of “What part did you not understand?” was simplistic and perfect. He could have repeated everything to make his point. Instead, he makes Knox look like the heel idiot he is. Well done, CM!

posted on 9-28-2006 at 01:06 PM Edit Post Reply With Quote Report Post to Administrator Hey, folby, are you abstaining on places 3-6 on account of the Ultimate X match blowing you away that much? Or did you accidentally post an unfinished draft? Oh, and I stole some words from you, I hope you don't mind too much....
DhM: Petey Williams, Sonjay Dutt, and Jay Lethal - Laxative? If Eddie and Big Show couldn't make that funny, you knobs certainly can't. Masters - They brought his entrance back! And Jerry Lawler makes fun of it! I can't wait for the final humiliation--Super Crazy breaking the Masterlock! Sandman and JR - You really shouldn't let another man touch your Kendo stick, Sandman. Also, shouldn't Stone Cold be angry with JR for drinking beer with another man?
HM: I've got a lot of these this week, due to what Lucky said about SD!--always lots of really good performances, it makes it hard to choose. Hardy and Helms - Their match ruled (much better than Jeff v Shelton-- whodathunkit?) and their series is continuing to kick much ass. Chavo - Half of a great pull-apart brawl. Booker T - Ruling over SD! and Raw this week. Jimmy Jacobs - Thanks go to Lucky for reminding me to check out ROHVideos. They've changed the format and extended it and changed the name to ROH Video Wire-- it's pretty cool, everyone should check it out. Jacobs's reluctantly apologizing to Cabana was definitely the highlight. Hero and Castognoli - Another highlight was their match from last Saturday, which was included in its entirety. All three of the ROHers I HMed are supposed to be heels, and I can't imagine why. They're awesome. Raven - He seems to barely be able to walk, but he can still bring the ultraviolence. Hernandez - I didn't love the Ultimate X match as much as some, but Hernandez impresses me more and more. Someday he'll be to LAX what they're sadly trying to convince us Roode is to Team Canada. Daniels - For almost stopping my heart with that crazy leap for the tag titles. Sabin's Chest - For a beautiful demonstration of the "Hardcore Holly" style of selling. Those blood blisters are some real method acting... RVD - For dying for my amusement in the chair to the throat spot. Also for causing Hardcore Holly incredible pain. I don't mean the injury itself--a freak accident that was no-one's fault. I mean mercilessly doing back bump after back bump after that happened. Edge - Promises a great main event next week--but you don't make the top six just for promises. Angle - It was a shocker, true, and I'm psyched as hell. However, refer to what I just said about Edge. Also, "It's damn real" is a horrendous catchphrase.
6) Samoa Joe - The bloody brawl and promo Thursday night were awesome, but the match on Sunday? Well, I agree with Lucky that the match wasn't "too even." Kicking out of the Stroke to the guitar meant much more than dominating the whole match would have. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the match, it just didn't have the passion and fire the promo on Thursday led me to expect. Needed more blood.... Then again, Angle's coming. I am rubbing my hands together in fevered anticipation.
5) London & Kendrick - The triple threat match was great and I give the lion's share of the credit to London's fiery offense. Kendrick is amazing at blocking defense, too, though. Too bad Kash is gone--with no really credible teams for them to play with, the tag division is probably going to languish again.
4) Mysterio - I said two weeks ago that what they needed to do was let Mysterio's emotions over the Guerrero situation drive him to be more vicious and intense, rather than holding him back. This week proved me right. This Mysterio would make a credible World champ.
3) Runt - I love the little Scorcese-obsessed git, but he really earned my vote this week. A ghetto stomp from how fucking high? And then the hangman spot, and the drop through stacked ladders and he's still fighting! That "pound-for-pound toughest" crap isn't just hyperbole.
2) Senshi - Holy fuck. The knee to the head to stop the suplex. A short-arm enzuguiri? I just made that name up. I didn't know that was possible. The kick to stop the suicide dive. The ghetto stomp to the back when Sabin was in the ropes. And, of course, chopping the holy living fuck out poor Sabin's chest. Low Ki's offense just makes me happy.
1) Bob Holly - "Many of us are not the stars at our jobs. We are hard workers, and competent, but we do not get awards, or promotions. But every once in a while, through a combination of luck, experience, and opportunity, we do something great. This...this was [Hardcore Holly's] night." Only, I'm not kidding.

4 - DX - as Convrete mentioned, the gaunlet tag was a lot of fun
5 - Ariel - finally got to see her wrestle, but that may have been the worst trash talking ever
6 - Jim Ross - JR with a Singapore Cane...gotta love it

3. Kurt Angle. First time in a long while that a true "surprise" has lived up to the hype without being spoiled ahead of time. Now just try not to die, Kurt.
4. Jeff Hardy. Still hasn't majorly fucked up since his return. In fact, he's looked really damn good every week, and his match with Shelton was no exception.
5. Paul London/Brian Kendrick. Still running strong as the champs, and came out on top during a nice triple threat match.

No problem. I said the results were tenative, since I had a feeling this might happen, what with the OO boards down. Since I'm extending the deadline, does anyone else want to submit a ballot?
Gonna do a quickie here, no HM's for time restraint.
6. TNA as a company - brings back Russo to get the internet fanbase talking and dividing opinions, then announces there's more to come. Bang, prime time television...but that's not even the big one. Kurt Angle...the potential name that could make it a legit threat of a company. Good show.
5. CM Punk - the highlight of ECW for me. Is finally starting to scratch the surface of just how awesome he can be in all facets.
4. Joe - Big win over Jarrett, steals the belt, long future ahead of him in TNA and the drool inducing Angle/Joe match is gonna be sweet.
3) No one, just because 1 and 2 are far ahead of 4.
Tie 1) LAX and Phenomenal Angels - no words can express how great Ultimate X was. Styles Clash through a table makes me cringe and then Daniels tops it with an insane leap to grab the belts. Good show boys.
12pack posted above has been edited to account for DevilSoprano's vote....
Hey, Booker took the lead in the r5w, that's the first time Edge has lost it.
TNA had their strongest week yet, controlling all four of the top four slots. They'll have to maintain that kind of performance for a while to catch Raw in cumulative points, though.
Looks like the bOOard's down. Keep in mind you can post your vote here. Rules are higher up in the thread, the eligibility period includes the most recent of the four weekly shows--last week's Impact! through last night's ECW.
Serg, I hate to bail on you in a week where the turnout seems really, REALLY low but I genuinally can't even come up with a list. I can barely even remember the shows this week. RVD and Test are the only ones even coming to mind. And I'm not sure I think that was THAT good a match.
I'll keep racking my brain and see if I can come up with a list that seems worth listing. Even if its not a full 6.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.
No problem, man. I presume that you're not the only one who feels that way--likely that's the reason the turnout's been so low. Unless I get several last-minute votes, I think this is going to be a skip week. What can you do?

Its been hard for me to watch all 4 shows. I was doing it well in the summer before anything else was on TV but lately I've been averaging 1-2 of the shows a week. That is why I've not been voting. I'm a little bummer. Making the list and reading the lists were my favorite parts of the OO boards for about 8-9 weeks.
Post by Attitude Adjuster on Oct 6, 2006 16:02:43 GMT -5
OK, here we go, but it's not pretty:
1) Jimmy Wang Yang: Why not? It was that bad of a week for wrestling, and he made me laugh for some reason.
2) Test: Because he beat Rob Van Dam in a hell of a wrestling match, even though TiVo prevented me from seeing the finish. (TiVo stopped recording as Big Show pushed RVD off the top rope onto the table. The last image I saw was Paul Heyman laughing manaically. Thx to some newb at OO for providing me with the finish.)
3) Rob Van Dam: Because he made Test look good, and that takes a lot of effort.
4) Jeff Hardy: Here's how wacked out the WWE is: They gav the Intercontinental Title to Jeff Freakin' Hardy! I'd love to now see him go on a five-day drug binge, culminated by turning the belt into a flower vase.
5) Bobby Lashley: He pinned Booker T in a 6-man tag match. That has to count for something.
6) Samoa Joe: I'm sure he did something that was pretty cool, but that was like a week ago. But he's Samoa Joe, and no one else is, so he gets the sixth spot.

This week he came out specifically to try to recreate that, and even if it wasn't the same, it was still pretty awesome. Kudos.
2) Cena - He went into SD! with everyone expecting him to dominate all five men from the "B Show," and instead he played a fantastic Ricky Morton and cut a promo that was genuinely funny. Then on Raw he had an entertaining cage match capped off by a particularly beautiful chair shot.
3) Test - I tried to give this spot to Edge, and to Joe, and to the King's Court, but, as much as I hate to admit it, it just didn't feel honest. There were three very good main events this week, but ECW's was best of the three, and in all fairness Test contributed just about as much to that as Rob.
If the ratings are good for it, maybe it's the end of the "special guest star" era of ECW (and the beginning of a NASCAR-esque "tune in 'cause maybe someone'll die" era).
Can you say, "Your NEW ECW World Heavyweight Champion--TEST!"? I'm sure Mick Foley will relish the irony.
4T) The King and his Court - All three men were just awesome beating the bejesus out of Cena in the SD! main event.
4T) Samoa Joe - Monster's Ball at BFG? Not really feeling that. "If Jarret OR Sting want this back, you can tell them to come get it"? Now THAT I'm feeling.
4T) Edge - On the losing end of the Cena feud, but--with that great string of reversals--they seemed to try a lot harder to make them seem evenly matched in this cage match than in most of his matches with Cena. I'm intrigued by what they might have in store for both guys.
4T) Jeff - He's really proven over the last few weeks that he can make an exciting match without the crutch of weaponry. He's looking great, he's a champion, and I, for one, am looking forward to seeing him get the chance to show off what he can do with the plunder.
HM) Lashley - That snap-powerslam was amazing, and he pinned the King. I would have ranked him, but he wasn't in the ring much, and the win was just to build some credibility that he might become champ. Still, an impressive showing.
Eric Young - The confrontation between Young and Jarrett was like a small-time crook telling a mob-boss "You can shoot me where I stand, but if you want someone to mess with Batman you can do it your damn self." It was a great segment for getting over Joe's character, but it was also a neat development in Young's storyline.
DHM) Luger & Bagwell - "Money for nothin'..."
Masters - The Great Humilation Tour of 2006 continues. Maybe I should start putting this in HM, it entertains me so.
And the results post:

No brand or cumulative rankings, as I plan to throw this week out for insufficient participation.
First off, no matter what we decide, I want to give a big thank you to anybody who participated in this thing, even one time. You all made this one hell of a fun ride.
A special thank you goes to jno and Attitude Adjuster for voting this week. Also to Lucky and metallikid for letting me know that they wouldn't be able to participate this week.
Metallikid in particular because, until now, he has participated every single week, and usually has gotten the thread started with the first ballot posted--or near to it. He let me know that he won't be able to participate anymore for the foreseeable future; his contribution will be missed.
That is, if there is anything to contribute to. I know this was a slow week in wrestling, and the low participation this week might be an aberration. But do people really want to keep this thing going? Let me know how you feel about it. Thanks!!
OO hasn't been down for a while, but it's gone down most of the day Friday for the past few weeks, so, just in case, here's the ballots so far:

5. Tommy Dreamer- Ended Thorne's undefeated streak last night, and having a renaissance akin to Sabu's earlier in the year.

And punched Booker T. But most importantly, he was in the best match in a week that had lots of great wrestling in so-so matches. Regal getting Benoit when they seemed to be setting him up for Vito was an awesome surprise. 2) Chris Benoit - Some would say he "only" got Regal for his comeback match, but I'll watch those two match up as often as they want to show it to us. "Like Kasparov in a fist-fight." 3) Undertaker - The premier example of "great wrestling in so-so matches." I really enjoyed the PPV match up until the lame ending. Then on Monday he had something even better going, but it was cut off early. See Cena's entry for more on this. 4) Finlay - Pinned the champ and main-evented a PPV. Quite a week for an old Irishman. 5) Booker - Held onto his title despite his Court falling apart. Of the four matches he was in, three were very good--particularly the one-on-one with Finlay. 6T) Batista and Lashley - Very entertaining in all four of the matches they were in, particularly when they were matched up against each other. I think it would be great if they were to move from allies-forced-to-fight to a genuine rivalry.
HM) Cena - I was so tempted to rank him this week; there just wasn't room. He bit the Undertaker! The "Hey! That worked!" double take when he knocked 'Taker down with the shoulderblock was priceless. I really want to see a real feud between those two... Christian and Joe - I loved the way Christian distanced himself from Jarrett, and Joe is still the real champ. Matt and Helms - Fine match; loved Matt's punches. Would have ranked in a slow week. London & Kendrick - I love London's offense, and Kendricks's blocking. Too bad there's no competition left.
DHM: JR - For calling the Hat Trick the Three Amigos. Just disgraceful. Mysterio - I had high hopes for the Falls Count Anywhere, and it just wasn't good. He needs a break. RVD - Since Booker was in four matches this week, and only one wasn't very good, I have to blame his opponent. Phoned in.
Just an FYI, it will be another skip week unless I get at least 10 ballots.
OO Weekly 12 Pack: 1. Booker T, SD!, 43 points, 8 votes, 6 first place votes 2. Benoit, SD!, 37 pts, 7 votes, 2 fpv 3. London & Kendrick, SD!, 18 pts, 5 votes 4. Regal, SD!, 17 pts, 4 votes, 1 fpv 5. Samoa Joe (TNA), TNA, 16 pts, 4 votes 6. Edge, Raw, 12 pts, 5 votes 7. DX (HHH and HBK), Raw, 11 pts, 3 votes 8. Finlay, SD!, 9.5 pts, 5 votes 9. Cena, Raw, 6 pts, 2 votes 10. Tommy Dreamer, ECW, 5.5 pts, 3 votes 11. Big Show, ECW, 4 pts, 2 votes 11. Undertaker, Raw, 4 pts, 1 vote Also receiving votes: Christian (2 pts), Melina (2 pts), Batista (1 pt), Eric Young (1 pt), Kelly Kelly (1 pt), Lashley (1 pt), Matt Sydal (1 pt)
- Booker T is either the third or the fifth wrestler to top the 12 Pack more than once, depending on if you count RVD & Sabu coming in 1st as a team and as individuals. - Benoit placed a very strong 2nd place in his first week receiving votes. - My boy, Cena, ranked this week, even though I only gave him HM. - ROH's Matt Sydal also received votes (well, a point) for the first time this week.
- Smackdown! dominated this week, with a great majority of the points and all of the top four slots. - This was the PPV-effect. The last time full results were done, two weeks ago, TNA dominated as strongly, and for the same reason.
- Naturally, Booker held on to his lead, but Joe and Finlay advanced strongly to tie for second. - Kennedy, Punk, and Christian fell off, to be replaced by Benoit, Cena, and London & Kendrick.
Here are the 12Pack votes in case anyone wants to be able to access while the site is down:

You know the drill. Or if you're new the rules are here. The eligibility period started last Wednesday and runs through ECW tonight. Just the usual four major national TV shows to consider.
edit: Whoops! There was also a new ROH Video Wire during the eligibility period. Check it out!
Don't forget to include comments with your choices. Also, try to think of the ballots as just a starting point for conversation.
Thanks!

Plus "the worst of men" was a killer line. 2) Christian - Christian and Joe reignited my shaky faith in TNA this week. BFG is going to rule the earth. 3) RVD - It was looking like a TNA and SD! only ballot right up until the end. But this match put a smile on my face, so RVD is in. 4) Benoit - New US Champ and not another Kennedy victim. Now bring on the challengers. 5) Batista - Came out on top (and #1 contender) in a hell of a main event. 6T) Lashley TIE Finlay - Helped Batista make a great SD! main event.
HM) Vito - Joined an exclusive club with Austin, Angle, Benoit, and Finlay--guys who can mesh well with Regal in the ring. Cryme Tyme - Amazing combination of bad-ass and hilarious. Orton - What can I say? His HBK mimickry had me in stitches. Holly - What a fuckin' mensch! I wasn't expecting to see him for weeks. Also, the chairshots to Show were a big part of making the ECW main event so much fun. Gowan - Zacky's back! I had forgotten he ever existed until I saw him again (On ROH Video Wire) and realized that I'd missed him. He looks so grown up!

I'm throwing two screwballs in for a tie at 6th. Forgive me. Noone else will vote for them anyway so it won't affect anything. I couldn't bring myself to give Cryme Tyme, Cena, or Benoit that spot.
T6) Sting and the TNA Video Staff - Check out the Transformation of Sting, it kicks ass. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The TNA video staff is awesome. Sting's hiatus is working out really well for me. He and the feud was stale. The Sting promos are creepy and eery and alltogether awesome. And the "transformation" of Crow Sting into whatever he's becoming is way cool. We're clearly being shown that Sting's changing his look finally and the hints to Malibu Sting are clear. I love it. I not only can't wait to see Sting's new look but I have renewed interest in seeing the guy come in a house afire after 10 weeks away and taking the NWA Title. Yay Transition Champ! And in this month when I watch nonstop horror movies I can't tell you how fast I'd go see the TNA/Sting horror movie that all these videos feel like teasers for.
"The Nut and The One Legged Man in an Ass Kicking Contest" - Why not? I couldn't come up with a 6th standout performer so I was going to leave this blank. But then I decided to check the ROH Video Wire. I hoped for Lacey to come onscreen in a short skirt just so I could keep my crush going. And when I saw Delirious winning I figured I wanted a promo. Something good enough for me to give a mention. A cocky heel Zach Gowan was interesting but not worthy. And the came Delirious. God bless! So I'll give it to the two freaks for making something interesting. Why not?
5) King Booker - Next to LAX the second best thing in wrestling might be King Bookah turning into Booker T at the drop of a dime when he gets pissed. Cryme Tyme would get more love from me except I was very unimpressed with the ring work. Or that was there.
T3) Christian Cage - He played the B role for the kickass promo and he played his role in that main event. He booked himself back into the title hunt starting with dropping JJ last week. I LOVE it when TNA has lots of people chasing that belt. That's the way it SHOULD be. That Christian and Joe don't even give a shit about Jarrett just the belt kicks so much ass. But not to be ignored is the kick ass Rhino feud. It feels underappreciated to me. Christian did a GREAT promo to kick it off when he betrayed Rhino. The personal stuff is tremendous. Rhino's played his role great. And both refusing to even give Sting/Jarrett respect was a trememdous little thing for TNA to play. Kudos. Rhino won't make the list but he should get a shout out.
LAX - BEST FUCKING THING IN WRESTLING! At this stage LAX could do ANYTHING and kick ass doing it. They've actually improved their ring entrance which I didn't even imagine possible. That cage door is such a great visual and I pray it stays past Sunday. Locking Daniels away to beat his ass down was a great new spin on them destroying AJ/Daniels. And I loved Homicide knocking AJ off the cage. I hear they're getting a hot Puerto Rican chick soon too. I love LAX so much that I'm starting to fear them hitting an apex and it being all downhill from there.
2) Shelton Benjamin - The 4 way IC match was loads of fun and Shelton was the clear standout of the match. Good for him. Now hopefully you show up again next week. If only WWE liked managers.
1) Samoa Joe - As has been said, kick ass promo and fun "match." Joe may be in a pointless match on Sunday but he's in possession of the Title and is having the ENTIRE heavyweight division booked around him. He single handedly put the Title over in a way that JJ hasn't been able to do in a long while (and that Christian wasn't able to no matter if he tried). And even though he's got that pointless match on Sunday he booked himself into the closing segment of the biggest PPV in TNA's history. Works for me.
Honorable Mentions: Lacey (because I think I love her); Jeff Hardy, Chris Masters, and Super Crazy; Cryme Tyme; John Cena; Jimmy Wang Yang, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick; Michelle McCool (I think bad things about her); Chris Benoit; and last and certainly least Kevin Federline (as dirty as it makes me feel that I simply know his namel).
If I get around to rewatching ECW I might come in and rework things. But that's going to take some positive reviews from the board.

2)The Briscoe Bros.-If the KoW are the best because of the belts they hold, the Briscoes are the most talented and they get some gold of their own by winning the FIP Tag Team belts. And they've been going blow for blow with Homicide and Joe in RoH recently.

Do you think all the talk about "becoming what you hate" is leading up to a turn for Sting?
Has Sting ever been a heel? I don't think I've ever seen it and I've been watching since '93 or so. I think its kind of amusing that TNA is playing it up like he's ditching the white face paint for the first time in 10 years since he did go red for the Wolfpac. But a turn would be a legitimate historic thing. And that's hard to live up to. What happens if you're the guys who turned Sting heel and then it flopped?
I've been thinking that the "become what you hate" thing is just hyperbole for Sting coming out bad and ferocious. If I remember correctly they used that quote for Hard Justice as well. Sting still has a feud with Christian to do and I think the Joe feud should be done as face Sting. Just sell it as Legend vs Rising Star and play up their past problem. And I figure that post BFG you just have all 3 in the mix considering how Cage and Joe clashed on Impact.
Its after that where I could see a turn coming. Because TNA honestly doesn't have any heels for Sting to fight after that. Sting/Abyss doesn't move me. But Sting/AJ? Or Sting/Daniels? Sting/Rhino? And you obviouslly HAVE to do Sting/Angle. You could do that as two legends clashing and that's it, but if Sting was heel that would add something.
I've let my imagination get away with me. I saw AJ kind of "call out" Sting on Impact and I started dreaming of an awesome main event scene in the next few months. Sting as Champ with Joe, Christian, AJ, Daniels, and Angle chasing. If LAX win the titles at BFG you can keep the tag division going with Team 3D, AMW, the Naturals, and Killings/Skipper. In fact, Killing/Skipper vs LAX could be the next kick ass feud in that division. So I dreamed up a scenario where after losing the belts AJ has a moment where he goes to his old friend Sting, congratulates him for winning the belt and fishes for a title shot. Then Daniels could have some issue with him not focussing on regaining the world title which could get him involved as well.
Joe, Christian, AJ, Daniels, Angle, Sting. Come on, Russo. If we were closer to Slammiversary I'd be pushing hard for that King of the Mountain with Joe as champ (and being the first champ to retain). Too far away to plan though. 6. CM Punk: Punk made me care this week, and I am glad that he's involved in a feud. 5. Delirious: He made Zack Gowen seem important, and made me look forward to a Zack Gowen match. Good enough for me. 4. King Booker: Who knew that his royal personailty would do so well? I'd bet that his reign is lasting longer thanks to it, too. 3. Maria: I think I love you... (TIE) 1. Samoa Joe: carried Impact this week, along with my other #1... (TIE) 1. Christian Cage: he and Joe made my wrestling week, enough said.
Man, this is the first I've been online in days. How long has the OOForum been down?
These results are based on the ballots that had been posted as of Friday, but I'm pretty sure everyone had voted who was going to. If I'm mistaken, I'll re-do this once OO comes up and I can see any ballots I missed.
- London & Kendrick topped the pack for the first time this week. - Oddly, they did it without receiving first-place points from any ballot. - Also oddly, they just beat out the Paparazzi by half a point, who received first-place points from every one of the ballots that went to them.
Brand and cumulative will be added once OO is back.
The next eligibility period ends tonight after ECW, so if you want to post a ballot this is the place to do it for now.
Just wanted to do a quick vote in case the boards don't come back up...
1) Homicide - Dethrones the Dragon and gets his much deserved ROH World Title. Really good match to go along with it.
Tie2) Briscoes and Kings of Wrestling - Split the weekend series and Saturday's match has been the best tag team match I've ever seen. Was a great ending to the Kings run and should be the beginning of a great 2007 for the Briscoes.
4) Jimmy Rave - The best heel in wrestling and just getting over as a complete badass. His sharpshooter ankle lock is being built up as a death move and he's totally made Nigel McGuiness into his own personal bitch.
5) Joey Mercury - cut a decent promo on SD and he deserves the accolades for actually making an appearance while looking like he does right now.
6)Bryan Danielson- Even though he lost the title, he did have a great 15-month run with the belt and he finally gets the time off he needs to rest his shoulder. Looking forward to his return and his match against the ROH Champ-Jimmy Rave.
Sounds like a big week for ROH. I'm thinking that those of us who don't follow ROH are likely to have a tough time filling out a ballot based on this week's wrestling, though...
